When MakeupSavvy featured this Pick 'N' Mix idea from Feel Unique on her blog, I knew I'd have to try it. I've been thinking about trying out the Birchbox monthly subscription as I think this is the only way I'm going to trial and test beauty products that I wouldn't normally tend to use. Also it's Christmas so I need to treat myself obviously. I'm still pretty new to the makeup world as I've never been too fussed by what I've been using. However, all that is about the change and I've discovered a few favourites out of this selection.
This concept by Feel Unique allows you to try out five different products at sample size. These could be in tubes, sachets, vials and in varying amounts of product. I chose some high end luxury (to me anyway) beauty products that I've always wanted to try but never brought because of how expensive they are. After you pick your five samples from 100s of options, you simply pay £3.95 for the shipping and handling costs. You can also get your next sample box for free as Feel Unique offer to take the £3.95 off your next box, so you're actually getting a free service!
So what products did I get? Well I got a few skincare products as I want to find a good day/night cream for my skin as I feel it's certainly suffering at the moment. At the time of writing this, there's only two products that I haven't tried out yet, simply because I've been wanting to use the other three first!
The first product is the Isa Dora B.B Cream in the shade Light Beige. It has SPF in it and I've actually never tried a B.B cream before so I'm excited to test this out. It's a brand I haven't heard of before so I'm keen to see the results. The full sized product is £19.75. A B.B cream is an all-in-one facial product so it's a product for the lazy ones (count me in).
The Clinique Moisture Surge is up next and one I was probably the most keen to try. I loved the consistency to this product as it was luxuriously light and soft on my skin. It didn't feel too wet and soon soaked in. I think this would be a great day cream underneath my makeup but I'm not sure whether this is a product that will be beneficial to my currently oily skin. The full sized product is £34.00.
The Matis Repairing Eye Cream is another product that I've yet to try but I was intrigued to try it because of it's hefty price tag of the full-sized tub for £50.40. It's said to reduce the appearance of fine lines around the eyes and I've found that this is an area of my skin that will certainly creep up on me if I don't take good care of it now. I'm very excited to try this product.
Kiehl's Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque (well there's a mouthful), was another brand I was keen to try. The product is thick and coats the skin well. After leaving it on for five minutes, the instructions say to 'tissue off remaining product and pat into skin'. I could only assume this meant to actually take off any remaining product with a tissue, which I did and after waking up in the morning with gorgeous baby soft skin, I'm pretty much sold on this as an overnight treatment. It's £27.00 but I feel like I'd be able to justify it as a payday purchase.
And finally Burt's Bees Night Cream. I must admit, I may have used a little too much product, but I wasn't sold with this night cream. It left a sticky residue on my skin in the morning which wasn't really pleasant. I use the lip balm which I love but for some reason, the night cream just wasn't for me. The full sized product is £19.99.
