Get ready for some contouring realness right now up on UpYourVlog with Benefit's Hoola Bronzer. This is very much a cult beauty product for most bloggers I follow and after securing a win on Feelunique's Wishlist competition, I knew it had to be ones of those that went into my basket.
The Hoola Bronzer comes in a small boxed container, that includes a short bristled brush and a tiny mirror. I'm not a massive fan of the brush and I don't apply the bronzer using the mirror included because it's just way too small! The bronzer comes in just the one shade which I do feel is a little limiting if you have really dark skin or really pale skin.
With this product, less is definitely more as I was extremely impressed by the pigmentation in this bronzer. It's a light, warm tone that is just enough without being too dark for my skin tone. I would say to add a little bit at a time under the cheek bones and blend in until you're happy with the results. I've only used the product as contouring so haven't had the chance to test it out more as a bronzer for the cheeks.
The bronzer works well with a liquid foundation. I normally bake my skin with Laura Mercier's Loose Setting Powder first to set the liquid foundation, otherwise the bronzer can look quite cakey and doesn't blend in as naturally. I applied the bronzer with a dupe Tom Ford bristle brush with a rounded edge. This definitely blends the product better than the one included as it's not as tight or packed with bristles, which ends up looking like a block of colour rather than having a natural finish.
Whilst contouring, I also used this bronzer on my nose to slim it down and around the edges of my face to give it more depth and shape. I don't think it works as well on the nose because of the shade being a little too orange for my skin.
At £23.50, it's obviously one of the more pricier options out there for bronzers. I think you could probably find as good a version for less but for indulgence purposes, the Benefit Hoola Bronzer is a definite splurge.
