How Much Should the Perfect Engagement Ring Cost?

Engagement ring on finger
So, you have finally decided to get engaged. Good for you. However, have you finally bought an engagement ring? If not, how much are you willing to spend? When it comes to buying an engagement ring, aside from choosing the perfect ring for your bride-to-be, it's also important to set a budget. Though, the question is, how much should you be spending on a ring? Allow us to help you with that.

We have compiled some rules when it comes to setting a budget for engagement ring shopping. Although this doesn't mean that you have to follow all of these, it will give you the idea of what is practical, and what's not. After all, you don't want to be indebted just yet. You still have to save some money for your wedding, honeymoon, and most especially your new family.

1. Three Month's Salary or One Month's Salary?

This rule is very popular. Wherein, the amount you're going to spend on the ring would be your three full month's salary. Then there's another rule that if you're on a tight budget, it would be more practical to just spend a full month's salary instead.

2. The Value of the Ring That Best Represents Her

Believe it or not, when it comes to getting an engagement ring, it's important to bring your imagination and passion for your partner to life in your ring as well. That means aside from studying the jewellery preferences of your partner, you should be willing to spend on the type of ring that best suits her. Is she the type of person who likes flashy jewellery, or more into the simple styles? However, this doesn't mean that you should pick a ring equivalent to a mortgage. Instead, look for something that is more practical in price yet astonishing to the eyes. That ring would surely be perfect for her.

3. The Age Rule

This might seem a little crazy, if you'll think about it. Why would a man look for a ring equivalent to his girlfriend's age? Well, if you'll think about it, as women get older, they become more and more sophisticated in a sense that some would prefer a diamond with higher carats. For example, if your girlfriend is 35 years old, then you should get her a 3.5 carat diamond engagement ring.

This is just a suggestion though, it's always up to you how much you are going to spend. Likewise, check the stunning collection offered by Diamond Brokers Queensland and you'll be surprised that there's a lot of rings to choose from within your budget.

4. Forget the Rules!

Most of us assume that rules must be followed when buying an engagement ring. The truth is, you shouldn't let other people control you. The amount you are going to spend on the diamond ring should be the amount you are willing to spend.

For most women, they don't really focus on the monetary value of the ring, but on how the guy will propose. Which means, instead of spending all your money, why not come up with a one-of-a-kind proposal for your beloved?
