Guys, I’ve only gone and finally done it. I’m now officially freelancing and I’m feeling a mixture of emotions. I’ve nearly finished my first week of freelance working and it’s been a little up and down. I’ve got so much work, freelance writing wise that I’m trying to cram in my blogging. The reality is though that I’m going to have to find a way of doing all the freelance writing in the morning to mid-afternoon and then doing the blogging side later on.

I knew that going freelance was going to be the challenge. But I’m a workaholic and even though I had the most amazing holiday recently (see above for how content I was in Egypt), I was still thinking about work and my ideas for UpYourVlog and where I want to go with my career. It’s an exciting time and the 2020 is going to be an amazing year. I’m ready to graft really hard over the next few years because I have certain expectations of where I want to be when I’m 30. With that in mind, here are some of my goals for freelancing.
Hire A Team
When I say this, I geninuely feel like it’s not going to happen. However, I had no idea that my blog and writing would ever allow me to go freelance so soon. So I’m driving forward with this expectation of wanting to hire a team. A team being someone I can pay to photograph me when I do collaborations, particularly fashion and lifestyle. I’m working towards getting enough of an income to pay for a social media management. This would be a company who would manage my social media planning.
Grow My Social Media Channels
When it comes to social media, I never had enough time in the day when working full-time to fully concentrate on my social media channels. Now though, I have lots more time and I want to focus on using platforms that will help make scheduling content easier until I’m ready to hire other team members. A company like ContentCal exist to help create better social media content. It helps to collaborate on content by yourself and in a team, so it would be ideal for me to have once I have a team on board with me.
What ContentCal offers is a social media management tool that’s a visual calendar that you can use to plan and automate content. That’s something that I’m certainly struggling with and have done in the past, so I’m excited to know that platforms like this exist!
Launch Tilly & Rouge
Tilly & Rouge is a new blog site that I was meant to go live back in January but that wasn’t going to happen because the work that was coming through for UpYourVlog and my freelance writing was increasing. I do want to get a focus on Tilly & Rouge and launch it as soon as I can. This site is going to be more luxury beauty and fashion, with a specific interest in home and interiors. I have such a passion for interior design and over the next year, I’m planning on purchasing more for our apartment so that I can make it feel more like a home and less like an unfinished project.
Start Back Up With YouTube
And finally, YouTube. I was on YouTube for a while back at university and for the first year of being out of it. I wish I had kept it up because the influencer world has exploded. However, that would have meant my blog wouldn’t be where it is today and I think everything happens for a reason. Now that I have more time, I can work on content for my blog and for my YouTube channel. I can’t wait to get planning on regular content to start churning out at the beginning of 2020. SO MUCH EXCITEMENT.
If you’re a blogger yourself, check out ContentCal because it’s hugely important for bloggers and influencers to get their content out and to promote it regularly. It’s how you build an audience and get your name out there. Let me know if you have any blogging goals for next year in the comments below.
