Savvy Bedroom Storage Hacks

If the past year or so of restrictions have taught us one thing, it’s to value what we have at home. The place where we normally start and end our days has quickly turned into a hub where every part of our lives takes place. This, however, has meant that clutter builds up quicker and easier, solely because of the amount of time we spend at home. Because of this, we have compiled a list of our favourite bedroom storage hacks to minimise clutter and stress, in these oh so stressful and cluttered times. From bigger investments to the downright genius little details, we’ve got all your bedroom storage hacks right here.

Bedroom
Bed Storage

It’s really the only must-have item in your bedroom, but that doesn’t mean it should only serve one purpose. The more you can get out of your bed the better, literally! Invest in a bed that has storage drawers or an ottoman that opens like a chest and you’ll slash your storage woes. This is a great storage idea for small bedrooms, that perhaps don’t have the space for a chest of drawers.

If you’re like so many of us who love a lie-in, watching TV in bed but find that a television stand is adding to the cramped feeling in your room, you could go one step further invest in a TV bed. Yes, you did read that correctly. It may seem a bit over the top at first, but as Happy Beds discuss in their blog, it can be an excellent way to minimise clutter and maximise space.

Crossed Wires

If you’re like most people nowadays, then your bedroom floor will look more like the inside of a computer, with wires going in every direction imaginable. At the very least it’s unsafe, but it also adds to the unorganised feel of your room.

An instant bedroom storage hack to this problem is to simply attach binder clips to your desk or side table, then you can slot chargers or headphone cables through the metal handle. This lifts them off the floor, you’ll always know where they are, and you won’t spend hours solving the mystery of untangling multiple wires. For more hacks on how to hide your wires, Country Living has compiled an even bigger list of ideas here.

Shelves for the Win

To the untrained eye, this may not seem like a bedroom storage hack at all, and it’s likely your bedroom will already have shelving units. However, even the most unassuming bedroom location can be used for shelving or storage. Here are some you may not have thought of that could rejuvenate your room no end:

  • The radiator – For a chunk of the year it isn’t used, so why not invest in, or better yet, make a simple radiator covering. One more shelf for books, keys, or other knick-knacks.
  • Above the door – A strange bit of space that often isn’t used for anything – until now. Installing a shelf here can be perfect for towels or bedding that’s out of the way, barely visible but easy to get to.
  • The invisible shelf – The pinnacle of de-cluttering is to make things disappear, right? The invisible bookshelf is just a case of installing one of the very affordable, slimline fittings that sit flush to the wall, sliding a thick book over the sturdy shelf, and stack away.

Very often, where we sleep can be one of the smaller rooms in our homes, so it’s important to be savvy with the space. These are just some of the bedroom storage tips out there, so hopefully, this will get you on a path to bedroom minimalism and a stress-free sleeping space.
