4 UK Wedding Locations That Feel Like The Mediterranean

It’s been a particularly cold winter this year, and nothing feels more appealing than a few weeks in the med, basking in the scorching sunshine, relaxing poolside, and eating delicious local cuisine. If that’s what brings you utter joy, why not incorporate a touch of that holiday into your wedding? Think countryside location, water-side photos, and gourmet menus cooked up by the finest chefs? We thought that might entice you – here are a few places around the UK that will make you feel like you’re marrying in the Mediterranean.

Cornwall

Nowhere in the UK offers a picturesque ocean-side location quite like Cornwall. White sandy beaches, shimmering blue sea, and quaint indie stores lining tiny towns, Cornwall’s seaside towns truly capture the same essence as abroad. So, the scenery is gorgeous, but what about wedding venues? Well, much like the dreamy locale you imagine in the med, Cornwall has some truly fabulous wedding venues.

Small rustic barns made from *that* white stone, countryside retreats with alfresco ceremony spaces, and historic buildings offering a unique celebration. And with the beach just a short distance no matter where you are, you and your guests can enjoy a holiday while you’re there!

East Sussex

East Sussex might not be famous as a beach location, but it’s actually home to some truly stunning stretches of coastline. It’s also the county with the UK’s lowest annual rainfall count, so you’re more likely to get that warm,

Mediterranean weather here than elsewhere in the UK.  Quaint towns in the Med are known for their cute small-town churches and pretty buildings, and you won’t be short of such in East Sussex. Think rustic barns for a more relaxed, countryside wedding vibe, or for a more grande soiree, there are plenty of historic venues, from stately homes and castles and forts.

Edinburgh

You might be thinking ‘why Edinburgh?’ considering it’s a busy city in Scotland, somewhere often thought of as mostly cold and rainy. But Edinburgh is a truly slept-on location when it comes to weddings, and you’ll certainly get the architectural feel of the Mediterranean here – think old historic buildings, cobbled roads, and quirky alleys that feel like you’ve stepped into a little village in the past.

Wedding venues offer something other counties in the UK  can’t –  city amenities combined with green spaces and cute boltholes. You’ll feel like you’re exploring the same way you do when you visit new places abroad.

Llandudno

So we’ve covered England and Scotland, so it seems only right to pay Wales a visit, too. If you’re trying to reimagine a rural Mediterranean wedding surrounded by fields, greenery, and countryside, you’ll find it in Llandudno.

One of the most picturesque places in Wales, you’ll feel a million miles away from everyday life, like you’ve created your own little wedding village. Again, it’s all about the old, rustic barns here – just think how pretty your wedding photos will look!
