Some Easy Upgrades To Make Your Old Kitchen Feel Brand New

The old saying goes that “the kitchen is the heart of the home”, the place we gather at meal times, and almost any time we want to just sit at the kitchen table and talk, do our school and business paperwork and enjoy a nice hot drink. It’s a warm, cosy space with food easily in reach, what more could you ask for?

Well, even the friendliest of kitchens can age, and once the tile is cracking and the sink is permanently stained, it’s time to consider doing some upgrades. A complete kitchen renovation is a very costly process, but there are some smaller projects we can do that will rekindle the delight we feel when we walk into the heart of our home:

  • New Kitchen Sink – The kitchen sink experiences a lot of wear and tear from all the washing and rinsing, and over time it can grow pretty dingy, developing stains and cracks that even the most rigorous scrubbing can’t clean. Removing an old sink and replacing it with something new isn’t a tremendous undertaking, especially if you get some help from your dependable local plumber in Sydney who can make it all happen in practically no time! This is the perfect chance to install a double sink that can manage both the washing and the rinsing, as well as adding extra hoses and nozzles to make the process so much easier. There are many materials and colours available now besides stainless steel and white porcelain, so you can match your new sink to whatever colour scheme you envision for your kitchen transformation!
  • Paint And Wallpaper – One of the easiest and most effective ways to spruce up your drab old kitchen decor is to put on a coat of fresh paint and/or wallpaper! What’s old is always new again, so you might go for a 70’s style look with a vibrant combination of bright orange and lime green paint accentuated by stylized floral wallpapers in the same eye-catching colours! Classic brick red paint and faux brick wallpaper can transform your kitchen into a vintage pub galley, with splashes of white to accentuate the reds. Bright yellows and whites with cheerful garden motif wallpaper can make your kitchen a sunny spot that will help the coffee wake everybody up on a cold morning! There are no limits to the possibilities, take some time and choose the look that’s going to make you excited to do some cooking!
  • Add Shelving – Your cabinets are a great place to keep things, but sometimes digging around back in their gloomy recesses to find something can be frustrating. If your kitchen has a lot of wall space, consider installing some open shelving! They can provide the perfect platform to place your most used dishes and cutlery on, as well as showcasing some of your more attractive glassware and plates. Those pesky chopsticks that always roll into the back of the drawer will look great when placed in an attractive pencil mug!
