I adore sleep. Anyone who knows me that prior to having a baby, I would sleep in until at least 10 am and being self-employed, the mornings would sometimes get lost as I enveloped myself further into the duvet on a Monday morning.
Nowadays though, my reality has very much changed. I no longer sleep in as much as I’d like to and my days tend to start from around 6.30 am to 7 am. Throw in the middle of the night feeds and nappy changes and both me and my husband are knackered. It’s the part of parenthood that many struggle through and in all honesty, we’ve got it good so far. Our little boy is now four months old and sleeping mostly through the night.
However, one thing that I’ve found since having my baby is that the ability to fall asleep fast is beneficial. Unfortunately, I don’t fall asleep fast and that also means that my sleep tends to be quite fractured as a result. I also get night and morning sweats which I think is a postpartum thing that not many people know about when they have a baby.
Anyhow – Simba got in touch with me recently after filling in a form to express my keen interest in a duvet that sounds like it came directly from the sleep gods themselves. An all-year-round duvet – the Simba Hybrid Duvet – is a 10.5 tog making it perfect for any season and is award-winning.
So what makes the Simba Hybrid Duvet a standout feature for the bedroom? One of the weird after-effects of pregnancy and birth is that my hormones are still a little over the place. This leads to some sweating and hot flushes during the night feeds. The hollowfibre filling within this duvet helps to dissipate heat but also ensures you stay toasty at night too. While it’s lightweight, it still has an enveloping feeling that I love.
The heat-regulating technology is one that’s actually inspired by astronauts. The duvet absorbs, stores and releases heat as necessary. Hopefully, with this type of technology, I’ll be able to sleep more soundly and without waking up in a pool of my own sweat!
I love duvets that are soft and padded. The Simba Hybrid duvet delivers on both of these requirements. It’s also helpfully hypoallergenic, which is perfect for allergy sufferers, especially for those whose quality of sleep is impacted.
The Simba Hybrid duvet is machine-washable, which is important to keep it clean – an essential feature for parents of little ones hopping into bed in the early mornings. It also helps that the duvet is approved by the NBF – aka the National Bed Federation. I never knew such a company existed!
It’s currently priced at £159 and typically retails at £249, so you’re getting a discount of £90 currently. The duvet comes in double, king and super king sizes. I would always recommend opting for a size for a duvet, however, I feel with this duvet, there’s more than enough material to cover you from head to toe.
Simba offers everything you need for that hotel-like bedding. If you want to indulge further in your sleep quality, then it’s worth getting yourself the Mattress topper king too. It’s a great way of adding more comfort to your mattress, especially if you don’t want to replace your old mattress quite yet.
