Hacks to Make Your Living Room Look More Expensive

The kitchen might be the heart of the home for most people, but the living room surely comes a very close second. Since it is one of the rooms most used by family and guests, it’s pretty important to have it looking nice, and most of us want the place where we chill and watch TV or hang out with friends to look and feel luxurious. With that in mind, here are some things you can do to make your living room look and feel more expensive without spending too much time or money.

Invest in a Really Great Couch

If you invest in nothing else in your living room, invest in your couch. A well-made couch, like the ones produced by Buoyant furniture, which is comfy, well-upholstered and expensive-looking can give your room a luxurious look and feel, even if everything else is distinctly budget. Choose a couch that complements your colour scheme and you’ll be on the right track.

Layer Your Lighting

Lighting plays a huge role in how luxurious the living room feels. Expensive homes always have layers of lighting so that the optimum ambiance for every occasion can be achieved. So, hang a pendant from the ceiling, place lamps either side of the couch, place candles in hurricane lamps and, well you get the idea.

Texture, Texture, Texture

You’ve probably noticed that expensive homes always have a range of textures too. Copy them by filling your living room with rugs, cushions, blankets, curtains and fabric wall hangings to create something special. If you want to be more subtle about it, simply buy a few different textured blankets in different sizes and layer them up on the back of the couch – it’ll look amazing.

Go Full-Length

Curtains can add a lot of luxury to the living room, but only if they are full-length. Full -length curtains suggest opulence. They say that you can afford an excess of wonderful fabric, whereas curtains that cut off halfway down the wall suggest a lack of funds. If you want to keep costs down, you could try making your own – it’s easier than you might think, although decent quality curtains can now be found online for much less than you might think if you don’t need a bespoke solution.

Big, Bold Works of Art

Nothing screams expensive or sophisticated more than a large-scale piece of artwork hanging on the wall. A large canvas will immediately catch the eye and provide an interesting talking piece. There are so many artists now selling original art on platforms such as Etsy that it’s never been easier or more affordable to become an art collector, too so why not start looking for a piece you’ll love to transform your living room today?
Clear the Clutter

Last, but certainly not least, if you want your living room to look expensive, keep it clean and clutter-free. Clutter looks messy and gives the impression you don’t care, whereas lots of space and everything in its place looks effortlessly more expensive. Your living room really can look amazing!
