There is nothing more exciting than booking a holiday, but while the holiday itself is exciting, you need to think more about the planning than you do the resulting destination. While it’s fun to go on holiday and enjoy yourself, you can’t get there without a stack of documents. It takes a lot of paperwork to be able to travel to the other side of the world, and it’s easy to forget the most necessary bits when you’re caught up in travel excitement. With that in mind, we’ve got a list of documents for you that you need to make sure that you get them packed as early as possible so that you don’t forget them. Get your pens at the ready and start making a list.

- You need your passport first. It’s the most obvious document, but you wouldn’t believe how many people get to the airport and forget about their passports. You should always check out the entry requirements for the countries you plan to go to, and if you need to, the Evisum Service Site is there to get you the right paperwork. You should comply with all of the points of entry for each place: just in case you’re turned away!
- You cannot get anywhere without your tickets to each airline and country. You should also bring with you the printed reservations for everywhere you are staying so that you have backup in case your email won’t connect to the internet. You don’t want to forget your flight tickets, so get everything printed and in the order you need it.
- When you go abroad, you need to have travel insurance. If you suffer an accident during your time away, you want to make sure that you are covered financially. This also works in the case of a cancelled flight or lost luggage, too! Get some information on the best travel insurance before you go, as while most people view insurance as an added expense, it’s an expense that could be the most valuable thing that you buy. It doesn’t have to be an expensive purchase, either, as a quick look on the internet will give you a huge list of travel insurance options that will help you to find the right one.
- Other than your passport, you should try to bring an ID card with you to be able to prove your age. If you are heading to countries that have an age requirement on specific activities, then you bringing an ID card is a good plan! You won’t have to bring your passport with you to clubs and other venues if you have an ID card.
- Lastly, you need to bring your credit cards with you as a backup. Have your usual bank card with you, too, as carrying a huge amount of cash is not advisable in a foreign place. Your travel insurance doesn’t cover you for everything so having your credit cards for an emergency is important. All of this will make your holiday go without a hitch.
