The Opera
The height of sophistication, luxury and culture. You’d be forgiven if you thought that the opera was only for the elite. You’ll find information about Vienna’s famous operas on this site. In fact, opera is a powerful medium of expression, storytelling and art that speaks to people from all walks of life – even if you don’t specifically understand what they’re saying! Opera originated in Italy back in the 16th century, so they know how to do it right. Simply put, a trip to Italy without seeing an opera is a trip, simply wasted.
It’s Art
Nowhere else in the world comes close to the cornucopia of art, culture and beauty that Italy has to offer. Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Botticelli are all artists that lived and worked in Italy. And you won’t just find some of the world’s most famous pieces hidden away in galleries, everywhere you look in Italy, from its cities to its picturesque villages, you’ll find the unstoppable influence of the Renaissance. It’s truly breathtaking.
The Food
It sounds cliché – but it wouldn’t be a trip to Italy if you didn’t sample the exquisite food they have to offer. They say you can taste the passion and love that goes into real, authentic Italian cooking in every bite and that’s what makes their food completely unrivalled. But it’s not all pizza and pasta, depending on the region you choose to visit, you’ll get to enjoy the full-bodied flavour of the Mediterranean diet. What could be better?
The History
Not only can you marvel at the stunning works of Italy’s architects in the here and now, but you also get to step back in time and admire the genius and ingenuity of the Romans. Their prowess helped to shape Europe as we know it today, and places Italy and it’s famous cities, literally on the map. A visit to the Colosseum, The Pantheon, and of course the ruins of the doomed city of Pompeii should be on any travel itinerary. All are simply spectacular and must be seen to be believed.
It Can Be Budget-Friendly
If you choose to visit off season, not only do you avoid the crowds, but you’ll also get to experience Italy within a modest budget. What more could you want?
