As a way to achieve certain life goals, we’ve got to address our perception of ourselves. You might have heard the term dress for the job you want, not the job you have. By the same token, you should dress for the life that you want. Dressing for the life that you want requires a certain sense of energy and it can be something that forces you to look at yourself in the mirror, literally and figuratively, and gear yourself towards achieving the things you want in life. And one of the best places we can begin is to change our wardrobe. So what do we need to do in order to achieve this goal?

Keeping It Simple
The big problem with being on-trend is that it’s incredibly stressful. Perhaps it’s worth going back to the idea of decision fatigue. If you are forever trying to change your wardrobe it can leave you feeling deflated and anxious. Dressing for the life that you want is about keeping things simple. You can declutter but also choose simplicity over trends. Perhaps taking in a clothing line like the Albus Lumen collection that focuses on simple shapes and subtlety can inspire you to remain neutral. Once you choose the fundamental clothes underneath you can start to build a stronger image around it. Consider it to be your foundation.
Choose Statement Pieces
If we look in the mirror and don’t like what we see a statement piece can elevate our perception. The great thing about using a statement piece is that it doesn’t have to be overly expensive. The idea is to make it more eye-catching. It could be a pair of shoes or a jacket. When you start to consider what making a statement entails for you, choosing a handful of items that can allow you to evolve your style makes it evoke that personal touch. Statement pieces will make you different than everybody else around you.
Reflecting Your Personality
If you wear clothes that don’t reflect who you are this is a priority. We can spend a lot of time listening to what people tell us what we should wear. But if you don’t feel right wearing what is popular right now, why should you? Choosing clothes that reflect your personality is about being brave. You don’t need to conform to what is on-trend. And arguably, by going out and buying what is popular right now means that you aren’t separating yourself from the herd. Just think about the simple things that have vibrant colours or bold patterns. You’ve got to challenge yourself and this means by challenging your own perceptions of what you consider to be fashionable means that you are pleasing the only person that matters: yourself!
Dressing for the life you want is not just about awareness of style choices but it is about making sure that you have the guts to be the person you want to be. Psychologically speaking, if we change how we look this forces us to alter our mindset. If you dress powerful you will feel powerful. Think about what you want to be.
