Tips To Help Finance A Car

This year, I’m finally going to get around to driving. In my 27 years of being on this planet, I’m finally going to take the plunge over the summer and learn to drive. Part of me wishes that I did this sooner because as you get older, you definitely get more nervous and I’ve always assummed that I wouldn’t be someone who takes to driving very easily. So with that being said, we also need to figure out how we’ll finance a car when we come to purchase one.

So we’re currently in an apartment but we do have a car parking space. Up until now, friends and family have used this space whenever they’ve come down to visit. Realistically, I can see us getting a car after our wedding because it will give me enough time to learn and pass my driving test. My partner can already drive but seeing as he’s not driven in a while, we’re going to top him up with a few lessons to get him familar with driving again.

When you finance a car, there’s a lot to consider, so here are some of the things I’ll be doing from now till we get the car.

The Type Of Car

When it comes to the type of car, I am mostly interested in bigger cars, like a Range Rover as a classic example. As far as cars go, the more secure they are, the better. I always feel like the small cars like a mini, can seem like they’re easily something that could get obscured or out of view when it comes to big trucks or lorries. I also don’t have a lot of knowledge about car types, so it will be a new experience for me when I eventually go shopping for a car. I also think an automatic is the type of car I’d want but I do still want to learn manual so that I have my options open.

Save Money For The Deposit

Money for the deposit is important because the more you can put towards a car, the better. As cars are expensive commodities that simply go down in price, I want something that I can buy straight away or have as little a payment period as possible. The cost of running the car is going to be bad enough what with fuel and insurance, let alone having to pay back the cost of the car. So with that being said, the more I can put towards a deposit, the better. For the additional running costs, it’s worth looking at somewhere like iCompario to get the best deal for your money.

Think About Leasing It

And finally, leasing the car might be an option when it comes to financing. A personal lease might be worth doing if you know you won’t go beyond a certain mileage and therefore the cost of the car and all other additional costs can be covered through what you pay each month. There are always different options, so it’s worth looking at those alternatives that will work best for you.

Financing a car is exciting but another cost that we need to think about as a couple for the future. Are you about to finance a car? Let me know in the comments below about your experience.
