Wine Tasting Wednesdays | Independent Wine

In my latest collaboration with Independent Wine, I was gifted two beautiful bottles of red and this is the first of the two that I’ve tried. Independent Wine has a range of Italian wines of many grape types and Ridolfi’s Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2018 is a newly added wine to the online shop. I’m very excited that I got the chance to try a new addition to the IW shop.

Independent Wine Ridolfi*This is a collaborative post.

Ridolfi’s website is the very essence of luxury and I’m majorly jealous of their location because it looks incredible. Back in 1290, three Ridolfi families stem from an ancient Tuscan lineage. The high-quality Ridolfi wines are made by specialised professionals who use innovative wine-making and bottling techniques. This improves the wine’s potential and the vines themselves are treated with copper and sulphur. It looks like such an elegant bottle and instead of trying it myself, I gave it my in-laws to try.

Smell

There’s delicate aromas within this wine that are red plum strawberry, chocolate, sweet cake, and dried red cherries. It’s a medium garnet colour and if you love a red wine, I’m always one to look at the colour intensely to see just how red it is. My partner has already taught me a lot about wine and so I’ve got some basic smelling and tasting skills that help me enjoy the wine more.

Taste

The wine is supposed to have a deliciously fresh and floral taste to it. It’s had a number of awards won, so it’s going to be good. Known for its elegancy, Ridolfi’s Rosso Di Montalcino is a dry wine that has high-alcohol and a full body. You should be ab le to taste a combination of red fruits, dried red cherries, and chocolate. The dried herbs also add a lingering finish to the wine too and so I think Sam’s parents are going to love drinking this. They are also big fans of the red wine.

Price

This is a UK exclusive wine and so as it’s priced at £19.90, you’re paying for a mixture of the brand, exclusivity, and of course, the quality of the wine itself. Ridolfi is careful not to overpower the aromas of his wine and they use large oak barrels to help enhance the natural scents that come from the grape itself.

Have you tried a bottle of wine from Independent Wine yet? You can check out there whole range of Italian wines via their online shop here. Let me know what your favourite wine is in the comments below.
