Best Ways To Find Open Spaces If You Live In The City

Living in a city like London has its benefits but as a countryside girl at heart, I often long for more open space to roam. Being in the city can often make that challenging but it’s not impossible. Just like any rural area, the city can offer some open spaces if you know where to look. Here are the best ways to find open spaces if you live in the city.

Do Some Research Into Your Local Area

Sometimes, it’s just a case of doing a little digging to find the spaces that work for you. When it comes to your local area, you may be surprised that a lot of cities will have some open spaces just a little way out of the area you live in. If you’re new to the area, then it’s always worth asking your neighbours or joining up to an online community group for the city you’re in to share their own advice and knowledge of these spaces.

Use Public Transport To Find These Open Spaces

Public transport is a great way of getting out and about. If you have certain open spaces within reach but that are a little too far to walk or cycle, then it’s worth taking advantage of the network we have as a country. A trip to Finsbury Park will make for a pleasant day out, for example and so it’s worth making use of transport that’s around you in order to get there.

Look Out For Green Roof Gardens

Just because you live in a city, doesn’t mean you have got the open spaces within it. There are a lot of architectures and buildings that are already in existence that have open spaces just like a traditional park. A lot of popular spots are those restaurants or bar areas that have open-roof gardens and there’s also buildings dedicating their top floor to an entire public space to display the wonderful nature you’d expect to see out in the countryside.

Finding open spaces in the city is still doable, it’s just knowing where to look! Do you have open spaces in your city? Let me know where you are in the world, in the comments below.
