Did somebody say “travel”? Sorry, it’s been so long that the voices are starting to get louder! If it doesn’t rain, which it does a lot in the UK, it pours, which is the equivalent to a second national lockdown. Everybody feels it, so let’s not make out as if travellers are hard done to, but let’s face it – we are! All we want to do is explore a different country and take in the sights and smells. Instead, the only option is to stare at four walls and break up the monotony by going for walks. If only there were a way to trick the mind into believing it was on holiday. Here are some Covid-19 travel hacks.
Incorporate Travel Into Your Life
Travelling is a lifestyle, which means you don’t have to be overseas to indulge in your favourite pastime. For instance, you can still travel for exercise purposes, so why not head to a beauty spot you’ve never visited before? That way, you’ll satiate your sense of adventure. Another tactic is to dress with travel in mind. From denim shorts to vests and trousers adorned with elephants, your style can resemble your urge to investigate. Speaking of fashion, don’t forget about your interiors. Decorating with travel in mind – i.e. pictures and knick-knacks from previous journeys – will instantly take you back to the good times.
Cook Travel-inspired Meals
Smell and taste are more powerful than sight. You only have to sniff a random scent to start reminiscing about the market stalls in Asia, or the taco joints in Central America. And, when the food hits your lips, you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported all over again. With that in mind, don’t be afraid to implement travel-inspired dishes into your meal plan. To take it to another level, you can attempt cuisines from places you’ve never been to replicate your imagination.
Connect With Travel Buddies
Everybody is guilty of returning from a long trip and falling straight back into a normal routine. As you focus on family, friends, and a career, the friends you travelled with take a back seat. Don’t worry as there’s an easy remedy – send them a message! There’s no better way to reconnect than to talk with travel companions about the good times, and the bad. Plus, it’s a way to get your fill without annoying your loved ones. For some reason, they don’t want to hear about how you spent six months in stunning weather, partying all the time, while they worked!
Research Your Next Trip
The only way to make lockdown 2.0 bearable is to imagine the return of normality. To you, that’s going travelling as much as possible, as safely as possible, something that’s difficult to do currently. However, the tide will change, and when it does, you should be ready to book flights and accommodation! Researching a trip now might be wishful thinking, yet there are always staycations to lean on when the country opens back up. Also, travel corridors still exist.
