Preparing For Our Baby’s Arrival With Very UK

I’ve had the absolute pleasure to work with Very UK on multiple occasions, so when I got the opportunity to work with them again but this time on my first mummy collaboration, I LEAPED at it. When I tell you that I managed to get so many beautiful outfits, as well as all of the necessary essentials that a new mum could possibly think of getting – I got a lot!

For any first-time mums out there, you don’t quite realise just how much a baby is going to need or how much you think they’ll need. Even now, I don’t feel like I have anywhere near enough of what I’ll need once the baby arrives. However, that’s the beauty of platforms like Very UK and other shopping sites being available. A lot now offer next-day delivery – which I’m sure we’ll be making good use of.

Nursery*This is a collaborative post.

We’re still partway through our nursery, which is ok because I often forget that the baby won’t be going into this room until at least six months of age. It means we’ve got time, even though I’m hell-bent on making sure it’s ready for when the baby arrives. I think it’s good to be ahead of yourself, especially as I feel my time is going to be somewhat limited when it comes to being a parent for the first time.

When I got the go-ahead from Very UK to explore their range of baby clothes and all things baby necessities, I tried to get a real mix of outfits that ranged from 0-3 months. up to 6-9 months. That way, I knew that I would have enough outfits to get through at least the first six to nine months. We’ve still got a little bit more to get but most of the big items we’ve now got. I think the only major items we now need include the play gym, the high chair and a mattress for the nursery. I do feel like we’ll need some extra storage bits for the nursery and around the flat but that’s something to sort as we get closer to the end of October!

All of Very UK’s options when it comes to baby items are high-quality and I was impressed by how much they had available to choose from. As you can see below, we couldn’t resist a sleepsuit – or baby grow as it’s also referred to – with an ‘I love my mummy and daddy’. We got one for 3-6 months and one for 6-9 months so that they could get full use out of it.

Baby clothing

We managed to get a variety of outfits, from multipack babygrows to the cutest Levi dungarees and a Polo Ralph Top. While I’m adamant it’s a boy, I wanted to pick outfits that were unisex I’m also not bothered about colour. Even though the nursery is midnight blue, that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be suitable for a girl. I find myself getting frustrated when I see outfits that are pink or blue and so you’ll see that most of the outfits we have in the wardrobe are neutral colours.

Everything is very affordable with Very UK, with the average price of baby outfits starting from just £4. While I did start off with getting a few pricey numbers, I quickly realised that it was a somewhat futile effort because the chances are, there’s going to be a lot of vomit, milk and poop flying all over the place.

There are lots of accessories to buy online through Very UK, which is what I decided to split the budget over. I knew that caddies were a great addition to have and as of writing this, I now have two! One for our bedroom and one will be in our bathroom for bathtime-specific products. We’ve also decided to go for reusable nappies which has been met with a lot of surprised looks. I’m looking at it as an opportunity to hopefully minimise our waste but to also save money. Just imagine how much you spend on nappies and disposable wipes?!

Baby Caddy

I love this nappy caddy because it has an assortment of pockets, which will make it highly useful when it comes to all of the bits and bobs needed. Is it weird that I’m looking forward to changing a nappy? I’m sure that feeling will disappear pretty quickly once I’m in the first weeks of newborn-ness but I’m looking forward to actually using everything we’ve bought. It’s a weird feeling having a nursery without a baby in it yet.

Aside from just the baby clothing, I’ve been accruing a few baby essentials such as muslin cloths and bibs. I got a few packs of muslin cloths from Very UK, which I think will definitely come in handy for feeding. I’ve been told you can’t have enough muslin cloths so I think I’ve got 14 so far. Hopefully, that’s a good start!

Very UK Baby ClothingAlong with everything seen above, I managed to get a few other bits for the baby:

One of my favourite purchases has to be this tummy-time Elephant cushion. I think it’s super cute and despite it being rather large,  I think it’ll be great for encouraging the baby to get plenty of tummy time throughout the day. I love how luxuriously soft it is and I get why you can spend a fortune on baby stuff because everything is so blooming cute.

Tummy Time Elephant

I’ll be sharing a post soon on some of the maternity wear I got through Very UK too. Clothing has been a challenge, especially with my already complicated shape for the fashion market. As my chest is bigger, it does mean that not all of the dresses and outfits I’ve tried, fit properly. However, I found Very UK’s range to be very accommodating.

Have you shopped on Very UK yet? Let me know what you’d recommend for baby stuff in the comments below!
