How To Easily Change Your Home Through The Seasons

Have you ever felt like you are having to change your home decorating too often? Then you’re not alone. Often we change our homes too much; this is because we decorate for different seasons and create extra work for ourselves. There are many ways you can stop doing this and create a home that changes through the season with you rather than needing to redecorate all the time.

Let’s have a look at how you can do this below:

Have Neutral Base

If you have ever wallpapered or painted your home, then you will understand how much work this can actually be. If you are someone who likes to change their home to match the season, then you are creating a big task. If you start with a neutral base, you are providing yourself with a blank canvas.

It gives you the flexibility to create different looks for the different seasons without all the work. Rather than needing to repaint for the changing seasons, you now only need to repaint when it needs to be refreshed. You could even get some professional painters every few years to give your home a fresh, neutral base to work with.

Choose Seasonal Accessories

The easiest way to change your home for the season is to use accessories to do it. Not only does it mean you haven’t got to decorate all the time, but it also means that you can easily swap in and out the accessories for different times of the year.

For example, when you move from summer into winter, you might change the curtains to some thick thermal curtains rather than light and airy ones for the summer. Or you can swap your light summer throws for some autumn-inspired pumpkin ones.

Have Some Storage Set To One Side

It’s a good idea to have a cupboard that you use for all the seasonal decor. You don’t really want to be going into the attic every time you want to change the look of your home. Dedicate a space in your cupboard where you can store the different curtains, throws, bedding, and ornaments so you can change every three months with ease. Make sure you look for storage solutions to ensure your home has enough storage

Set Yourself A Budget

If you love a good DIY project and accessorizing your home then you should really think about using a budget. It can be far too easy to spend too much on this kind of thing.

This way when you are changing the look of your home seasonally you aren’t spending funds that could be used elsewhere. This is another good reason to keep things in storage too. Rather than buying new items each season, you can just add one or two new items and bring the rest from storage. This will help you to save money and spend less on redecorating your home too often.

These tips should help you to change the look of your home seasonally without having to redecorate. Do you have any other tips that could help? It would be great to hear about them in the comments below.
