Everything costs money nowadays and I’m thankful that we very little to do in terms of updating our home because when we brought it, it was brand new. Perfectly painted cream walls, gorgeous wood flooring, and plush carpets. As we’ve slowly begun filling our home, I’m realising that owning a home can be expensive. Just furnishing it is costly enough. However, there’s still a bit to buy for our home and then the other day I got a new throw for the sofa and it changed the feel of it immediately. Small changes can actually make a huge difference, so here are some simple ways to transform a room on a budget.

Focus On Pattern And Colour
Patterns and colours will change when it comes to what’s trendy and what’s not. However, this is your home to make how you like, so don’t be afraid to step out of the box to create the look you want for the space. Whether you’re using geometric patterns with paint or covering your walls with floral wallpaper, these purchases for the home don’t need to cost much. Even if you wallpaper just the one wall, you’re adding a splash of colour to what would otherwise be a boring room. The same goes for other furnishings within your space and when it comes to picking out designs and styles, go for what you like rather than what’s popular or current. You are the one living in that space after all.
Invest In Soft Furnishings
Throws, cushions and all things soft. I love seeing throws on my sofa and on the bed. I love our rug in the living space because it just adds that cosy feeling to the space. If you don’t fancy committing to changing the colours of the walls, then you can always invest in soft furnishings. You can change cushions covers to reflect the seasons and you can store away thick fabrics for thin to complement the weather change. These small touches to your sofa or bed can really help transform a space without having to spend a huge amount.
Rearrange The Furniture
It sounds silly, but have you ever tried rearranging the furniture in a room? Providing that the main item of furniture in the room can fit in another part of it, it costs you nothing to rearrange the furniture in one space to change the look of it completely. Start with the biggest item in there and then work down towards the smaller stuff. The way your TV is angled can alter how much you can see from your sofa and that dining table could be diagonal instead of horizontal and it makes all the difference.
Soften With Warm Lighting
Ever walk into a room that’s filled with sunlight and had that lovely warm feeling wash over you? Well, warm lighting can do exactly that and that’s why I always try to pick out warm LED lights as opposed to those harsh, white clinical ones. I also have mustard coloured lampshades in our bedroom because that colour also helps to aid the effect of warmth that I’m trying to create. Warm lighting can soften the appearance of a space and it, therefore, feels more inviting.
