Now here on UpYourVlog, we celebrate every shape so here's 7 style tips that every curvy girl should consider!
Being curvy, bodacious, and bootylicious is simply fabulous, period. Kim Kardashian knows it, Ashley Graham knows it, and if you are a member of the curvy girls’ society – you know it too. This is the reason why you should never try to hide or suppress your curves with clothes that just do not do your body justice. To that end, we have created a list of seven rules to follow in order to flaunt that show-stopping figure of yours; when you look in the mirror before walking out the door, you will be saying ‘I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly’.
Ditch the Polyester
We tend to think of summer as this carefree, breezy time of great summer outfits and hairstyles, but in reality, it can get sticky, sweaty and just a pain in the neck. This is why it is crucial that you ditch all your polyester items and go for pure cotton ones. Not only will they allow your body to breathe, but they will also not stick to your body accentuating parts you don’t want to draw attention to.
The Anti-Chafing Hack
A curvy girl once said: “My thighs love each other so much, they can't stop touching each other.” While full salacious thighs are so much better than the unhealthy thigh gap trend, every gal who has thighs that cannot stand apart knows that summer chafing can be a real hassle. To avoid this, wear cute biker shorts under dresses and skirts on hot days that are made of breathable materials, of course. Not only will this prevent chafing, but you will be free to rock a sundress on a windy day and not be embarrassed if the summer breeze lifts it up. Seventeen has you covered with many hacks for the summer, so make sure you snag some of the tips.
Make it Fit
You are a girl with curves – embrace it, celebrate it, love it, and stop trying to squeeze into things two sizes too small. The secret to looking stunning in any outfit is to pick items that are your own size, so never shy away from body hugging plus size dresses. Numbers have nothing to do with how gorgeous you are, but a dress in the right size will only emphasize your beauty.
High Waist all the Way
No one can pull off high-waisted jeans like a curvy girl. They emphasize your waist, hide that extra tummy you do not want the world to see, show off your glorious booty and hug those hips better than a loving boyfriend. If you happen to be conscious about your thighs (which you should not be), go for a darker denim shade as it tends to make your legs look slimmer.
Stripe up Right
Whoever said bootylicious gals cannot rock stripes was terribly in the wrong. The only thing you should avoid, whether with skirts or tops, is horizontal stripes as they make everyone look bigger than they are. The most flattering stripes for you are the vertical ones, but if you want to take the more fun and stylish route, diagonal and asymmetric stripes are the way to go.
Trendy and Flattering
Kimonos are still going strong when it comes to this season’s trends, and apart from giving your look a great summer and breezy vibe, especially if you go for bold bright colors and floral prints, they are also a great way to turn focus from your arms, if that is a part of your body you are not really crazy about. Trendy and practical, all in one.
The Taller Effect
Whether we are talking blazers, blouses, jumpsuits or shirts, the V-neck cut is the Holy Grail cut out for every girl with a stronger bust. It will make your cleavage look amazing while making you slimmer and taller at the same time. This is why those V-neck wrap dresses are so magical, so thank you, Diane Von Furstenberg, for inventing them.
