Holiday Reads

So it seems like a lifetime ago that I was relaxing on a sunbed in Benissa, Spain. One of my favourite parts about going on holiday is being able to get my head stuck into a good book and literally sit out in the sun all day, reading. I’ve tried owning a kindle but unfortunately it’s just not the same as having a physical book in your hand.

The first book that I ploughed my way through whilst on holiday was Emma Gannon’s Ctrl Alt Delete, How I Grew Up Online. Now as a blogger, it’s a wonder that I haven’t heard about Emma before but hey, I’m still fairly new to the game. Emma grew up alongside the internet when it was conceived in 1989 so it was a flashback to my early teen years when she talked openly about MSN, Bebo and the Internet in general. It’s an inspirational read for me because her career is something that I would love to have and the opportunities she’s received from it have been incredible. I also would love the opportunity to write my own book one day so this is a major bucket list goal of mine.

A featured read at my workplace was Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk. The book cover is beautiful and a stunning design. The story itself is quite good but I always find that endings can either be good, bad or average. For me, I thought the ending was a little disappointing but it wasn’t ‘Oh I wish that wasn’t how it ended…‘. Lauren Wolk is an author who has been around for a while so I’d definitely be interested in reading more of her books from before to see more of her fictional style.

Have you been on holiday recently? If so, what did you read? Let me know in the comments below.
