Recent Reads – August ’16

Since I’m flying through books at one divulged every 3-4 days, I thought I’d pick a few that have certainly kept me gripped whilst on my daily commute in London. A book that keeps me gripped to the end, is a well written one, so these novels are definitely worth a read if you’re looking for a new book to read for your holidays or just to pass the time!

Fool Me Once by Harlan Corben

This is the most recent one that I’ve read and it’s probably the one I read the fastest. I literally couldn’t put this book down for more than a couple of hours. This is an author I’ve only just heard of, yet he’s released over 150 novels already! Fool Me Once is another crime/thriller and it’s one of the best I’ve read to date. I love his style of writing and how he gives nothing away until the very end. The story follows Maya, a woman whose seemingly lost her sister and husband to the same gun that shot them dead on separate occasions. However, when her husband Joe appears on her nanny cam, Maya’s trust in those around her becomes tested.

Never Never by James Patterson

James Patterson is probably one of my favourite thriller writers and he’s created an empire when it comes to the book industry. His latest novel Never Never is certainly one that will have you guessing until the very end. A series of disappearances in the Australian outback sees Detective Harriet Blue track down a horrific killer that ends up getting too close for comfort…in more ways than one. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Me Before You, I can best describe is the perfect love story, if it were a love story. In a way it is because the two main characters end up falling in love, however the main theme within the story is about choice. It’s about having the freedom to do something or allow others to make decisions for the sake of themselves. This book had me gripped from the beginning up until the bitter end and was recommended to me by my best friend Maria, who is also a book fanatic. I’m certainly going to read the sequel that has recently popped out onto the shelves. Check it out here and purchase the sequel here.
