Exploring Covent Garden | London

It has to be said that Covent Garden is one of my favourite spots in all of London, there’s something just so magical about the place. I worked right next to Covent Garden for two and half years and so I feel like it’s not going to be a place that I’m never going to go back to. There is so much to see and do around London and recently I met with my friends on my lunch break (when I was working freelance) to explore a little more of what Covent Garden has to offer.

Anyone who is staying in London for the first time might definitely like the idea of staying in Covent Garden Hotel. You’re right in the heart of the city and within quick access of Leciester Square, Picadilly Circus, Soho, Seven Dials and Oxford Circus. What I do love about London is that everything is pretty much packed in nicely together, so if you were coming to the city for the first time, you can definitely take advantage of what’s available.

London always surprises me by the sheer amount of stuff that’s going on. It’s just like New York in that it’s buzzing pretty much 24/7 and I’m so happy to have spent five years of my life here so far. It certainly feels like home to me now, even though I feel we will probably be moving out in the next few years. I wanted to explore more of Covent Garden because there’s plenty more around than just the market itself. So I took a look on the web and found a few places that I took my friends. First stop was by CHLOE, a vegan-based restuarant.

With so much talk now about how we’re at that cross-point on earth where we can decide on what route we take our earth down, it got me thinking about trying more vegan food. Some of our friends are now becoming meat-conscious which is essentially cutting down the amount of meat that you consume on a weekly basis. I kind of want to give it a go myself and I think with my weight loss journey that I have planned for the New Year, I think I’d definitely time it with that.

As a first time customer of by CHLOE – I was so impressed and so were my besties. We all went for the Guac Burger with Sweet Pototao Fries and their seasonal drink for £12.95. Pricy for a lunch-time meal but actually that for me would have been a main meal that you’d eat at restuarant, so the price is reasonable. And for once, I didn’t miss meat in this meal. It was flavoursome and tasted like every other burger but knowing it didn’t contain meat.

The layout of the restuarant is very much like a fast-food joint but it has much more of a classy, instagramable vibe to it. It’s located just outside of the Covent Garden Market and it’s a shame it’s kind of tucked away because it’s a great place. I believe it’s on the same road as where The Woman In Black is playing currently, as I’m sure we walked past it. With our bellies full of yummy vegan food, we had a little explore in the Covent Garden area to see what else we could find to munch on.

Covent Garden has an amazing array of shops from big commercial brands like the Apple store the the pop-up stands selling indepedently in the main piazza. I’ve never had the opportunity to explore enough of the place and I think I’ve taken the fact I worked so close to it as an advantage. I didn’t do enough with my time there so this was a way of being able to explore it more in detail.

Covent Garden Shops

We headed back to the piazza itself and I wanted to try out a place called Creme De La Crepe. There’s so many beautiful sweet treat shops to try in Covent Garden, so if you’re partial to a sweet treat then this is a place that’s definitely made for you.

There’s one place, which I snapped a quick picture of before, called Santa Nata. The guy probably gets a lot of tourists or bloggers like myself taking pictures of him making the pastries not only because it looks cool to watch but because they’ve got marble and rose gold. It’s an influencer’s favourite combination. A few of these places are trying to incorporate the glass window where you watch the staff make the food. It’s a great way of enticing you into the store and I’m definitely going to give their pastries a go, next time I’m nearby, which probably won’t be too far away.

Creme De La CrepeWhen we got to the main market place, it’s already dressed up to look very festive but this is still typical styling for the market during this time of year. it is truly a gorgeous place though at Christmas time and it’s definitely worth going to visit the city during Christmas. It just heightens the feel of the city and I love it. We headed into Creme De La Crepe and we had to very quickly rush ordering as I had to get back to work. From memory (and my memory is really poor at the moment) I had The Milky Bar Kid. This had strawberries and white chocolate and then I think Hannah had a Cheeky and Elliott had a Cheeky Monkey, both Nutella orientated.  I think the consistency of the strawberries and white chocolate didn’t work and the crepe itself was a little too thick and more like a pancake. It didn’t stop me eating it though so it wasn’t all bad.

I had such a wonderful time exploring Covent Garden and you can tell by my happy face that I enjoyed it and thanks to my friends Hannah and Elliott for not eating when I had to take photos first. #lifeofablogger
