If you don’t like to travel, then I’m sorry, we can’t be friends – JOKES. But seriously going travelling is so beneficial not only for your awareness of other cultures but it also builds you as a person. The things you see and learn about, all contribute to your knowledge and the world we live in and what’s happened to generations beforehand. I was most recently in Amsterdam and we went to see Ann Frank’s House. It was both an upsetting but humbling experience of just how much our society has changed and how good we’ve got it now. And that brings me onto another bucket list! There’s certain things – travel wise – that I’d like to do before I get all old and wrinkly. So here are some of my travel bucket list to-do’s before I die.
This is a collaborative post.
Travel First Class On A Plane
I think I just want to see what it’s like to live like a boujee (meaning a high-class person for those who don’t know the lingo). I want to do it once because to be honest, unless we become rich millionaires, I don’t think it would be possible to do it more than once. I think for first class, I’d want to either travel with Virgin or Emirates. Apparently Emirates has the best first class ever. We’d also need to be going somewhere pretty special so the Maldives is also on my list of places to go. I actually want to go for my 30th but we’ll save the first class experience until we’re retired!
Do A Cruise
Cruises are definitely something I want to try out at some point, I just need to not watch Titanic before we go on one. There’s something that worries me about open water so I’m not quite sure how I’d handle that being on a cruise. However, these experiences are certainly worth trying once, even if it ends up not being my cup of tea. If you’re looking for one yourself, then you can find some inspiration and book a cruise with emerald waterways.
Combat My Fear Of Creepy Crawlies And Go To Australia
The only thing that’s putting me off from going to Auatrailia is the creepy crawlies. I do not like spiders or any crazily big bugs, so I don’t know how I’d fare in Australia. I’d probably need to remain in the city, away from as much of the wildlife as possible. Everyone raves about how good it is and I see a lot of young US and UK people going over there to do a gap year or work in the country for a couple of years.
Visit Auschwitz
This is definitely a morbid-curiosity bucket list option. I recently read The Tattooist of Auschwitz, which was such a heart-breaking read. It was also a reminder that this wasn’t something that happened too long ago. One man had the power to organize the senseless killings of millions of Jews, Soviet prisoners, those with physical and mental handicaps and various others who sought to challenge the Nazis. It’s hard to think that so many who might have lived to have children of their own have had their lives cut so brutally. If anything I want to visit Auschwitz to get a sense of the scale of this camp because it’s the one that killed the most. Although it’s morbid, I also want to give some reality to what I’ve read in the history books and to pay my respects to those who perished in such a terrible way.
See Route 66
Route 66 is an iconic strip of road that goes through a number of states in America. We’re planning on going to America for our honeymoon and want to visit a number of places. We’re thinking of going to San Fransico, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago and ending up in Florida for a stint at Disneyland – because we’re adult children at heart. It’s going to take some planning, but I would love to see a part of Route 66.
