5 Life Lessons I’ve Learnt As An Adult

It’s crazy how much you grow over a year. We’re already nearing the end of February and I feel like I’m going to blink and it will be Christmas again. I find that each year I do grow as a person and I learn from mistakes I’ve made whether it’s with my blogging career or my personal life but I think this is important because if we didn’t learn these life lessons then we wouldn’t grow.

Cinnamon JumperI realise I’m totally having a moment here so I wanted to inspire myself and perhaps you my reader too with some life lessons that I’ve learnt at the ripe old age of 25.

Quitting A Bad Habit Is Hard

Oh god, this is the worst. Whether it’s stopping smoking or giving up fizzy drinks, quitting a bad habit can be hard. Not that fizzy drinks are bad every now and again but I suddenly realised I was having a can of coke (or more) a day and I believe this contributed to my sluggish-ness throughout the start of January.

Biting my nails was something I managed to stop once I got engaged because ya know, this girl has to show it off. However, I’ve sunken back into my old ways so I’m determined now to try and grow them and just maintain their growth by going for regular nail appointments. Hopefully, this will help resist the urge to chew my fingers off.

Time Isn’t Your Friend

Like I mentioned at the start, I’m starting to wish for my time back. I cannot fathom how it’s been nearly 4 years since I graduated from university. It literally feels like yesterday that I was partying in a club on the pier and going home at 3am with a box of fried chicken from the local takeout which may or may not have been closed down once for an infestation of rats.

Nowadays, you’ll find me at home, binge watching Friends on Netflix and going to bed at 10.30pm so I can wake up at the ungodly hour of 7am to go the gym before work. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME?!

Adult Life Has It’s Ups & Downs

Here’s the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the glorious truth. Shit happens. Adult life is tough and you have moments of loving life and moments where you’d wish the day would just end. That’s the way of life and you choose how you tackle those low moments.

Health Comes First

It’s only been in the last year that I’ve noticed that things are now starting to ache a little more and when I hurt or injure myself, I take longer to heal and recover. Pretty depressing if you ask me but I’ve realised that my health must come first. Also turning 25 means I’m now eligible to go for a smear test to hopefully help prevent anything serious. Health should be a priority because we only get one chance, so we have to make it a good one.

Prepare To Spend Money

As we’re now engaged, we’re buying a place and generally living our lives, spending is become very much the norm for us on a daily basis. I feel as though from now till the end of my days, I’ll be paying out money and I’m happy about it because I know it’s all going into things that are mine and will contribute to a happier life.

Lessons are a part of life, so let me know what you’ve learnt from your own in the comments below.
