Seek Advice From A Professional

Everyone has different hair types and textures, so make sure you know your hair and what you need to be doing to take care of it. You may have to have a different routine to others! A great place to start out is Lily Jackson Hairdressing Salons. They know the ins and outs of different hair types and will be able to help you with cuts, colours, styling and maintenance routines, as well as recommending the right products for your hair.

Careful Colouring

If you colour your hair, you’re going to have to make sure that you do so responsibly. When it comes down to statistics, you’ll be able to see that some hair colours are more common than others. On a global scale, the most common hair colours are black and brown, with an estimated 90% of people around the world having these hair colours. Only about 2% of the global population have blonde hair, and an extremely rare 1% have been found to have red hair. These statistics may seem a little unusual to you, but this may depend on where in the world you live. Most common hair colours can vary drastically according to region. You’ll find that naturally blonde hair is in abundance in Nordic countries, while you’ll encounter a lot of red hair in Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

Regardless of what hair colour you have naturally, you may want to switch it up! Blondes may want to go brunette, brunettes might want to go red and so on. You may even want to attain a completely unnatural colour like pink, blue, or green. Whatever colour you opt for, you need to make sure you colour your hair responsibly. Have a hairdresser with good reviews and qualifications carry it out and ensure they do a patch test beforehand to check for allergies. Home kits can often end in catastrophe, the colour you don’t want, but perhaps most importantly, damage to your own hair. Go easy on the bleach and make sure to use treatments, shampoos and conditions specifically designed for dyed hair.

Go Easy on the Heat

Many of us heat style our hair. Whether that’s straightening, curling, crimping, or whatever other methods you undertake to achieve your desired look. But heat styling damages hair. Try to use it occasionally rather than on a daily basis. When you heat style your hair, make sure to use a heat protector spray. This will help!

Of course, there’s much more you can do to maintain your hair to good quality and standards. But these simple steps should get you started out in the right direction for taking care of your hair.
