No Mo-Unibrow | At-Home Waxing During Lockdown

I honestly can’t wait to be able to get out, get my nails done and have a good ol’ pampering at the hairdressers. I also tend to get a back massage every month as well as the occasional eyebrow wax and shape when I can. Yes, this might sound a little bit boujee but I work hard and I also deserve to reward myself with some self-care. However, as lockdown still continues, I’ve had to adapt by doing my eyebrows at home. No Mo-Mostache is a brand that has recently released their No Mo-Unibrow. As my hair is dark and I’m fairly pale, dark hair shows up and I had a unibrow to some extent as I was growing up. It was something I was very self-conscious from but now I don’t get that same feeling if my eyebrows become a little bushy and I have a few stark hairs in between my brows. Instead, I get rid of them to tidy up my eyebrows and to make them look more defined.

No Mo-Unibrow*This post contains gifted content.

The No Mo-Unibrow comes in a small metal tin, small enough that you could literally throw it into any sized handbag with ease. I think the beauty of this is that it’s something you take with you on a long weekend or an overnight stay and have it as an emergency to tame any unwanted eyebrow or mostache hairs.

It contains 24 hypoallergenic waxing strips for use on the eyebrows but I’ve actually used these on my upper lip hair too. I don’t think they are as effective because the wax strip is fairly thin so I had to use quite a few to get rid of the upper lip hair. However, for the eyebrow hair, it’s definitely effective in removing the hair. I had a couple of week’s growth on my eyebrows before I used this kit. I wanted to see how much I could get off before I had to start plucking.No-Mostache Kit

The strips are very easy to apply and it says that you have to warm up the strips for one minute in between the palms of your hands. This allows the wax to warm up and stick better to the hairs. I was very careful to ensure that my eyebrows themselves weren’t put under the wax and I think if there was less of the excess material around the outside, it would have made for a closer removal of the hairs. Once applied onto the skin and rubbed down, you’re meant to remove it by ripping it away in the opposite direction of your hair’s growth.

I expected my skin to flare up slightly because my skin is sensitive to anything that’s too abrasive and that includes wax. However, one of the benefits of using this kit, is that it comes with a packet of aloe vera cream. The cream is a great way of calming down the skin and if I were to critique this, I would rather it come in a small squeezy tube as this could preserve the cream and keep it fresh.

You can see that from used wax strips above, there’s a good amount of hairs that come off with each wax strip. I was definitely impressed by the amount that comes off, considering it’s only a small amount of wax that’s used. The kit costs £13.20, which to be honest, I would usually spend about £10-£15 on getting my eyebrows waxed anyway. This kit means you can get three to four waxing sessions out of it and unless you prefer to have it done by a professional, this is a great alternative to doing them yourself for a lot less.

When I do my eyebrows at home normally, I would start by trimming your eyebrows with nail scissors after you’ve brushed them throw with a spoolie. I find that this adds a bit more structure and definition in how the hairs grow. It also gives the eyebrows more shape. I would usually fill in my eyebrows but just for the purposes of this review, I simply added a bit of fixing gel to the eyebrows to keep them in place.

I would certainly use this again for occasions where I need to do my eyebrows quickly and don’t have time to go into a beauty salon to get them done. I think it’s an affordable kit and ideal for on the go and for events where you might need a little last-minute freshen up, perhaps for a wedding or birthday party.
