A Social Media Presence that Makes an Impression
First up, and probably the most obvious, is to use social media to help drum up attention and buzz around your blog. Creating a cohesive and unique visual presence can really help you stand apart in a crowded marketplace – Photoshop, Lightroom and other photo editing presets and filters can be a great way to get started putting together a visual identity. Picking out specific elements of your visual presence like colours and fonts is also important. Itt helps you maintain consistency over time. This isn’t to say you can’t reinvent yourself and have to stick with the same theme forever. For new bloggers just getting started, it can be a useful way to make your mark!
You can also boost posts and take advantage of different hashtags and topics on platforms like Facebook and Instagram to help you find inspiration and community online, both with readers and with other bloggers!
Partner With Likeminded Creators
On a similar note, once you’ve found friends in the community, don’t be afraid to partner with them! Look for where you overlap with another blogger and propose a partnership! Write a blog for their site and they can guest post on yours, or you even just share ideas and bounce concepts off each other! Finding partners who have similar brands and directing each other’s audience to help when promoting your blog out to a much wider audience, and it can even get you some new followers who are invested in your brand.
Google Is Your Friend
With a little bit of care, research, know-how and attention, you can get new audiences not just from social, but from search engines as well! SEO, or Search Engine Optimisation, is a fantastic way to get your blog out there. For bloggers, most of the SEO work you do will be researching the topics that people are searching for, looking into keywords you can include in your written content and making sure the images on your site well optimised so that Google knows what it’s looking at when the magic algorithms look over your site. The more of this you do, the more likely you are to appear high up in Google’s search rankings and bring you some new audiences.
