Wine Wednesdays | Independent Wine

It’s another week and therefore we’re drinking another bottle! Independent Wine is a great place to find award-winning, Italian wines and get them delivered straight to your doorstep. I’ve been working with them for the past few weeks to show you guys some of the beautiful wines on offer and this week is a red. It’s the 306 Biologico Nero d’Avola 2017 and is a Decanter Silver Medal winner. I’m grateful for them for gifting us another two wines to try out and if you haven’t already, go check out my previous blog about how to pick out a good wine.

Independent Wine 306*This is a collaborative post.

Salvatore Tamburello is a company that produces it’s own grapes and has been doing so for over five generations now. The company itself has been making wine since 2014 and put its first bottle on the market in November 2015. The brand sells high-quality organic wines and guarantees the highest level of quality when it comes to what they produce in their vineyard. They have around 24 hectares and they cultivate a variety of grapes from Nero d’Avola, Catarratto, and Trebbiano.

Smell

With red wines, I do enjoy the spice and smokiness that can come with certain types and it’s why I enjoy it the most during the autumn/winter period. The smell has delicate scents of black pepper, cedar, and leather, which I certainly loved. It’s a deep ruby colour and I get the scent of red cherries, cranberries, and redcurrants too. Myself and Sam are becoming more accustomed to giving the wine a good sniff now so that we can really enjoy the process of tasting wine, rather than just gulping it down.

Taste

The wine definitely has a lot of the dried red fruits that are mentioned above and is full-bodied. It’s a smooth wine that goes down very well and then has that hint of spice at the very end, which warms the throat slightly. I was a big fan of this wine and drank most of it myself because it was honestly that tasty. It’s a fresh red without being too heavy and so it’s one that I think you could certainly enjoy at the height of summer too.

Price

What I’ve loved about Independent Wine is that all their wine is reasonably priced, considering all of it comes from overseas. This one stands at £18.19, so one of the more expensive wines that I’ve had the pleasure of trying out but I’d certainly love to try this one again, especially if I spotted it in a restaurant. It’s a wine that’s easily drinkable and one that I enjoyed without food.

IW has a whole range of beautiful bottles to take your fancy and if you haven’t already, type in Independent Wine in the search bar of my blog to check out the other bottles that I’ve reviewed so far. You can check out the shop here and why not treat yourself to one or two bottles?

Have you tried this brand before? Let me know in the comments below.
