How to Make Sure You’re Safe When Travelling

With life gradually and tentatively returning to normal, people are beginning to get out and about a bit more whether this is travelling into work, meeting up with friends, going away for the weekend or day trips. While it is fantastic to have some freedom back, it is also important to be aware that you still need to be safe and protect public health while travelling. So, how can you go about doing this?

Wear a Mask

Wearing a mask is one of the most important ways that you can protect yourself and others right now and it a legal requirement in many places so you must always have one with you when you leave the house.

Wash Your Hands

Along with a mask, washing your hands is incredibly important and one of the most effective ways to stop the transmission of the virus. You should try to avoid touching anything when you leave the home, but if you do have to then you should wash your hands as soon as possible afterward – carrying a bottle of hand sanitiser is the best way to do this.

Travel During Off-Peak Hours

If possible, you should try to travel when it is off-peak so that it is quieter and easier to keep your distance. It is a good idea to book your train tickets online so that you can find the best time to travel and also make it easier to get your tickets on the day – places like Grand Central Rail will be a good place to buy online.

Keep Your Distance

It is also important to keep your distance while travelling and try to stand 2-metres away from those not in your household (a minimum of 1 metre). Of course, this can be challenging with public transport which is why off-peak hours are important.

Stay Current With Developments

It is a fast-changing situation and the rules keep on changing so you should always stay up to date with the latest developments and familiarise yourself be-fore leaving the home. This is particularly important if you are travelling to a different area as they could have different restrictions on what you have at home.

Follow these tips and you will be able to travel safely and with confidence. It is terrific that people are able to get out and about more after a difficult few months, but you also need to stay alert and understand that the threat is not yet over so you must be vigilant and do all you can to protect your own health and the health of others.
