I feel like I’ve started every blog over the last few months by mentioning COVID – LOL. Whether it’s ‘oh life isn’t the same’ or ‘another day in lockdown‘, this year has certainly not been the year that anyone planned. 2021 however is set to be a corker of a year, so long as we can get a vaccine in place and life can return to something that’s as close to normal as possible. So instead of going out this year, most of us have no choice but to stay in and Very‘s Living Wellness campaign couldn’t have timed it better with their delivery to my doorstep.
A bundle of skincare goodies got delivered to my local UPS store – which was a good bus drive away and so Sam being the ever-so-fantastic fiance, braved the cold and rain to go out and fetch it for me. Let’s be honest, if your partner’s working from home, why not take advantage? Soz Sam. Anyway, I unpacked the box when I got home and I squealed with excitement. I knew what I was getting but these brands are some of the most sought-after brands on my to-buy list and now that I have them, I can see what all the fuss is about. I’ve tried a few already, so thought I’d let you know what I thought but some are going to be a little description of what they’re supposed to do.
Very’s Living Well campaign is encouraging all of us to take care of ourselves. Even though this has been a fairly lonely year for all of us, it’s one that we should enjoy treating ourselves to for a change. That’s why any and all of these products are great for a pamper night in. First up is the Pixi Skintreats trio which contains the Vitamin-C Tonic, the Vitamin-C Lotion, and the Vitamin-C Caviar Balm. If you didn’t already realise, it’s all very Vitamin-C heavy. This trio helps to boost the brightness in your skin, so that means no more dull-looking skin due to staying indoors all the time. They’re a trio of products to use altogether helps to look in the moisture that your skin needs to look and feel good.
I do not like facial oils that are too heavy. Anything that feels thick on the skin is a big no-no for me, which is why I’m hesitant but also excited to try this product. The Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial Oil has received good reviews, with the brand, in general, is very favourable to a lot of bloggers that I follow. The facial oil is described as being light-weight and nourishing – a good start. It has a lovely concoction of essential oils including Chamomile, Lavender, Orange & Mint to name but a few. This helps rebalance the skin and Omega-3 helps to restructure the skin’s elasticity and to protect the skin from further damage. I do like that you wear this as an overnight treatment, rather than having to apply it at the start of the day.
Primers are something that I’m quite picky with because now that I’ve found a few good ones, I’m more judgmental about new ones. The Elemis brand is one I’ve been wanting to try for a while and so trying out their Superfood Glow Priming Moisturiser sounded like a treat. I’ve used it a couple of times already and I’m very happy to say that it creates a soft glow to the skin that’s perfect to wear as is or before putting on makeup. The combination of primer and moisturiser, makes this a great treat in order to get that dewy glow that’s also going to keep your skin hydrated too. It actually looks a bit like a foundation colour when it goes on for me but is something that applies really well and doesn’t tint my skin.
Another brand favourite for me to try out was the REN Clean Skincare. I’ve always wanted to try them and they’re usually mentioned in all wellness skincare brand reviews and features that I’ve read through blogger’s websites. This is the Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Cream and it’s a lovely product to apply straight before bed. Very light and only a little amount is needed to cover the face. The one downside to it is that the scent isn’t to my liking but then I’m always wanting something fruity or floral scented. I definitely notice a difference in my skin in the morning as it feels a lot healthier and brighter.
Ok anyone who is looking for a little pamper night in, is going to need the Magnitone Steam Ahead Facial MicroSteam Sauna. It’s a pretty pink and rose gold number – which I love – and I’m all for one on cleaning out the pores. I think I’m going to try and use this towards the end of the evening during my skincare routine. It’s supposed to help to clean out and make exfoliating more productive. It’s also meant to help with the rest of your skincare products and ensuring they all absorb into the skin properly. Ten minutes a day is all it takes to get more hydrated skin that looks healthier and improves skin conditions!
Aromatherapy is a favourite of mine as I use their bath oils, which are highly recommended that you get. This one though is their De-Stress Mind Roller Ball. This sounds like everything that I need for whenever I’m having a stressful time during work or perhaps a particularly hard week and need a bit of relief. I haven’t used it yet but I think that if it’s anything like their bath oils, I’m going to love it.
The final two products are the Philip Kingsley Elasti-Style 5 in 1 Treatment and the L’Occitane Shead Butter Hand Cream. Now for some odd reason, at the time of writing this blog, it wasn’t playing ball with me being able to show you the products up close. Apologises! However, I can tell you that I’ve used the L’Occitane Hand Cream before and can confirm that this is a wonderful product and it smells so dang good. It’s not a thick cream when rubbed into the skin, which I can tend to hate because it takes forever to dry. This one however is the opposite and doesn’t leave that greasy film on your hands after. The shea butter scent is a favourite of mine and I’m always a fan of a big-sized product when it comes to value for money.
The Philip Kingsley brand is another I’m very familiar with already and I’m excited to try out another product from the brand’s range. This is apparently a very good product for styling and taming the hair. You pop a pea-sized amount onto your hair after you’ve stepped out of the shower. You can also use a small amount to help tame frizz when the hair is dry. I’m excited to give this one a try.
Very has a jam-packed online catalog of skincare treats from various brands such as Nip & Fab, Clinique, and Garnier. As well as all of the ones featured above, it’s the perfect place to shop for some pampering goodies. And why not treat yourself? We should be spending time taking care of ourselves during such a tough year.
