There are many benefits to decluttering your home and as we’re in the early stages of selling our home, we recently did a declutter and now I’m so thankful that we’ve got a lot less stuff thanks to ridding ourselves of the stuff that we didn’t need. So if you’re looking at decluttering your home for 2021, here are some tips for decluttering your home.

Set Aside Some Time Specifically For A Declutter
The reason why most will avoid decluttering their homes is that the thought of doing it is a little overwhelming. It’s not usually something that will take five minutes to do, it’s likely going to take a whole day or an entire afternoon. With that being said, it’s worth scheduling aside some time specifically for doing a declutter. Make sure you’ve set some time aside to do your declutter so that you can focus on it properly, rather than having to do it alongside other daily tasks.
Do It Room By Room
When tackling a declutter, it can easily get overwhelming due to the sheer volume of areas you need to cover. Even if you live in a flat, there’s a lot that can build up over the property and so it’s good to focus on a room at a time. By doing it room by room, you’ll likely get more of it done, rather than just doing what you can here and there. When you’re trying to get rid of clutter, it’s important to do it in an organised fashion.
This can also be helpful if you’re trying to free up clutter by putting it in an external location. For some, it might not be clutter that’s ok to get rid of and instead needs to find an external home like Magenta self storage can offer.
Make Sure You Declutter As A Household
Just because you’re feeling motivated to declutter, doesn’t mean you have to do it all on your own. Try to encourage the rest of the household to get involved in the decluttering process. After all, your home is something you share with others and so it’s important to make it known that the rest of the household has a responsibility to keep it clean!
It’s also apparent that there will be belongings that you might not be aware of or know whether they hold significant value. Therefore, there’s a risk of things being thrown out that they wanted or things that could have been thrown out but remain in the home. Try to be active and do your declutter as a household where you can.
Be Ruthless
And finally, when it comes to decluttering, be ruthless. Try to notice items that may have sentimental value and therefore are meaningful for you but don’t mistake it for rubbish. Try to find the joy in things and if it sparks no joy, then it’s something that you can probably throw out.
