Why You Should Care About Ingredients In Your Skincare | Amanda Jo of Organic Bunny

Over the past few years, I’ve focused a lot more on my skincare than when I was at university. You’re not really told much about how to look after your skin, which is surprising, seeing as it’s the largest organ of the body and for the most part, is exposed to the world around you. I’m always keen to try new products and most days, I’ll do a least a few stages of a skincare routine which often include taking off my make-up with a cleanser, toning, and adding a serum or moisturiser. It’s easy enough to buy into buying lots of skincare products though that do nothing at all., so here’s why you should care more about the ingredients in your skincare.

Not All Ingredients Are Good For The Skin

I’ve found that through testing and trying out loads of different skincare products, not all are good for your skin. One of the most important ones is that just because you have oily skin, it doesn’t mean you can’t use products that contain lots of oils. If you have dry skin, it doesn’t mean that you can’t use clay masks. There are some ingredients that you might be sold on as being good for the skin when actually, it’s not. Parabens and mineral oil are just two ingredients that are commonly found in products and should be avoided at all costs.

Some Products Might Worsen Your Skin Conditions

As mentioned above, some skincare products might worsen your skin conditions and therefore it’s good to try and figure out which ones will and won’t, by subjecting your skin to as little pain as possible. For me, I have sensitive skin, so I’m going to stay well away from abrasive body scrubs, especially when it comes to the face. Instead, I tend to opt for more natural and less abrasive ingredients like seeds and fine sugar scrubs. I will also be wary of any face masks or chemical peels I put on my face to reduce flare-ups and I’ll always tend to go by what guidance is offered on the product’s description.

A Lot Of The Good Stuff Comes Naturally

There are a lot of benefits of using products that contain mostly natural ingredients. A lot of the benefits can be found in foods that we digest and so you’re likely going to see a lot of skincare products with extracts of these foods in the ingredients. I personally love anything that has orange or beetroot in it because they’re likely going to be good for my skin’s appearance. I also love anything with hyaluronic acid in it because it really works wonders to brighten and hydrate the skin.  It’s good to look out for brands who offer these natural skincare products, like Amanda Jo of Organic Bunny.

Taking care of your skin is certainly something you want to keep on top of, so next time you go to purchase something, look at the label first. What ingredients in your skincare to you look out for?
