One thing that I vowed to do from the end of 2020 to the present day was to start dressing up more at home. Even though I work from home as a freelance writer and therefore only myself, my partner and my social media following get to see my outfits, it makes me feel good to dress up like I normally would. I think it’s good to try and get as much of your daily life back to normal as possible, even though that’s difficult during a pandemic. For me, putting on makeup and getting an outfit on instead of being in my pajamas, can often make me feel a lot more productive. Here are some tips on how to enjoy dressing up when in a pandemic.

Shop For Some New Pieces
The first thing that you want to do when it comes to dressing up is to take a look at the current state of your wardrobe. I’m not someone who actively buys clothes every month because I feel like it’s a waste and I can make do with the clothes I already have, creating new looks. However, there are times where I need a bit of an update and so do a bit of an overhaul every so often.
Shopping for some new pieces is going to help you get into that right mindset when it comes to facing your wardrobe and picking out something to wear for the day ahead. There’s nothing like having a delivery of clothes and doing a try-on to see what looks nice and what needs returning. Online shopping has well and truly become a favourite pastime for many. Dressing up when in a pandemic is fun when you have new things to wear!
Plan Your Outfit The Night Before
Your outfit is something that you want to ideally plan out the night before. It always helps to have the outfit in mind so that you can lay it out and that way, it’s ready for you to put on as and when you get up and get ready. Planning your outfits can bring some normality to your day too and for it not to just feel like another day where you’re stuck indoors.
If you’re looking for some inspiration when it comes to outfit planning, then take a look at Pinterest or online shopping websites to see how they style their own clothing. That way, you can take a look at your own clothing and adapt it or simply copy it!
Don’t Forget Accessories
Accessories are certainly important when it comes to your outfit because it can be the thing that completes the look in its entirety. With that being said, have a look at what you have available. Whether it’s a pair of earrings or perhaps taking a necklace and a bracelet combo, it can really help to transform the look and to help you feel more put together. Some gold and silver jewellery are timeless classics to have in your collection.
Take Your Time To Apply Makeup
When applying your makeup, if you have a bit of extra time to hand, then do it with a bit more care. It helps bring a lot more enjoyment to the process and you might find yourself doing a better job because of it.
I personally love doing my makeup and there’s something extremely therapeutic about it.
Take A Few Photos For Yourself Or Social Media
And finally, if you’re a social media fiend like I am, then why not have a mini photoshoot and take some selfies of you in your outfit. It’s a great way of adding a bit of self-love to the online world and it’s also good in helping to document your looks for when you want to recreate them.
