You’re damned if you and you’re damned if you don’t. For years now, women’s bodies have been under the watchful eye and scrutiny of the media and the expectations that society puts on women’s bodies. I’ve spent my whole childhood and teenage years into adulthood, hating my body. It didn’t fit the ideal body that was deemed hot in the 00s and I don’t fit the body type that seems to appear on every other post on my IG feed. It’s toxic and so posting this photo below was honestly one of the most empowering moments when it came to my body confidence. I don’t shy away from showing off most of the time but my body hasn’t always been loved as it should be.
The issue seems to be that we’re constantly comparing ourselves to other body types, envious of what they have that we don’t. Like the whole Kendall Jenner situation. Yes, she’s got a banging body but your body is beautiful too. Figleaves is one of those brands that I’ve been following for a while but I’ve never actually bought anything from their site. I know – so when I got these gifted, I couldn’t get over how beautifully it fit my body.
Being a big-boobed woman, I tend to struggle with bralettes and any tops/dresses in general that claim they fit a size 12/M but actually I need more of a bigger bust area, which can often lead me to having a baggy waist when it comes to wearing tops and dresses. This makes it difficult because I’m finally comfortable in my own skin and body, changing my wardrobe to things that actually fit my shape, rather than drowning it in fabric.
The Millie Lace Bralette makes my boobs look legit, the best they’ve ever looked. Again, being big-boobed, you either possess the magical powers to keep them perky and upright or if you’re like me, they’ll be travelling towards the floor at the ripe young age of 28. Giving yourself a little lift is something that we larger ladies have a struggle with but with this bralette, it’s like I’ve had a boob lift!
Lace has always been a favourite of mine when it comes to materials and for the past six months or so, I’ve loved wearing thongs for a change but these boy shorts are gorgeous too. It’s nice to finally feel good in your skin, you know? As a woman, I think it’s a constant journey that we go on because there’s so much invisible pressure to look good. And I’ve been told a few times that I’m overweight, which has knocked my confidence. When did we start thinking that critiquing a person’s body was acceptable? And how would you feel if it got turned back on you and your body? We need to lift each other up and celebrate our bodies for the beautiful things that they are.
So for Figleaves message, they’re asking you to shine bright – give yourself a little lift. You deserve to wear what you want and not feel uncomfortable simply because it doesn’t fit the norms of what body types can wear what. YOU DO YOU HUN.
What do you think of this Figleaves lingerie? Let me know in the comments below.
