Myself and my partner are at a bit of a limbo period right now. For anyone who regularly reads my blog, you’ll know we’re due to get married in June next year. The only thing is, the pandemic and everything to do with this stupid COVID is delaying people’s plans. It’s resulting in weddings being a 15-30 person event and so it’s hard to plan ahead without putting in a backup plan. We’re hoping to have talks with our venue in January to discuss our options. We’ve also recently had a change of heart when it comes to our home too and although we said we’d be hopefully selling up and moving out of London in Spring 2022, we’re looking to accelerate these plans to the start of next year. With that being said, I thought I’d share with you what I’m looking for in our next home.
A Big Garden
The next home we move to is going to be our family home and so it’s important for us to have a big garden. One thing we’ve noticed during this year and spending so of our work life for Sam especially, working from home is that we are lacking space. This apartment that we’re in just won’t suit us when we have a baby en route and so it’s essential that we’re looking for a property with a sizeable garden and lots of additional space inside. Me and Sam have plans to have decking, an outdoor lounge area with a firepit, and of course, a hot tub. We want to live a bougie lifestyle, ok?
Three Or More Bedrooms
I would love to have four children but at least three. I am so grateful to have two younger brothers and if we’re able to financially afford four children, I’d want to do it. For that reason, I’m looking for a property that’s going to have at least three bedrooms. This property might not be our forever home but it’s going to see a substantial life chapter which is growing and raising a family of our own. So it’s got to suit what we need and that’s plenty of bedrooms!
A Study For Working
My career looks to be the same as it is now in five years’ time and so I’m going to need a proper study area to work in. The current setup is in our spare room and as much as it’s a nice space, it’s not enough room to have a permanent setup for anything beyond my desk and computer. I have lights and a beauty ring light that I want to have permanently set up as well as a backdrop eventually for recording videos. It’s just not possible in this current apartment so it’s very much needed in our next one.
Character Features
I want a mixture of character features in the home. It needs to be a bit more unique if we’re going for a modern property and not like every other show home layout that I’ve seen. For the bathroom as an example, I’d love a stand-alone bath as well as a shower, like these leak free shower cabins as an example. I’d love to have tall ceilings or large windows. There needs to be some personality when it comes to the home and that’s what I’m looking for in our next property.
Open-Plan Layout
And finally, I really love the open-plan layout of our kitchen, dining, and living room. I’m hoping that I can get that to some extent, whether it’s just a kitchen and dining room or all three in one. I love how it makes feel like you’re including everyone when you have guests over, rather than disappearing into another room to prep food.
What would you like in your next home? Let me know in the comments below!
