Tips For Promoting Your Business in 2022

It’s a new year and as I like to think of January, it’s a time to reset and think about what you’d like to achieve from another 365 days on the planet. Let’s be honest, no one knows how long they have left, so it’s important to live in the moment but to also get excited about the future, whatever that looks like. As a business owner myself (I see my blog and social media as a business) and a freelance writer, putting myself out there is essential. Whilst I am mostly an introvert, this career has forced me to drag myself out of my shell and socialise. To connect and to seize opportunities that I might have missed out on before due to a lack of self-belief. Your business whether it’s brand new or not needs your self-belief. You should be making the most out of every day to help build and grow what will be your empire. Here are some tips for promoting your business in 2022.

Set Goals

I know it sounds obvious but do you have goals for your business this year? Or are you aimlessly hoping to get some sense of direction? Make this month the time to set yourself some goals and objectives. Surprisingly this year, I’ve yet to do the goal-setting update that I do annually on this blog.  However, I feel that my goals are a little warped from where I am now. They’re not as relevant so I want to start afresh at some point this month and create a new set of objectives.

What are yours? Brainstorm some goals, both small and big so that you’ve always got something you’re working towards.

Get networking

So I really don’t like networking in a physical setting. The whole experience just sends my anxiety spiralling through the roof and whilst I may look calm and collected, inside I am panicking. Perhaps it’s because I hate not having anything to talk about or someone just not liking me. However, networking is a great way to promote yourself or your business.

For example, conferences and events where you’re showcasing your business to the masses is a big opportunity. It’s one that you don’t want to let go or underperform, so go all out. Get some unique exhibition stands so that you’re seen from afar. Print off some business stationery and start handing it out to everyone who willingly accepts it.

If you’re not a fan of physical networking, use LinkedIn or any of the social media platforms we’re blessed to have as a generation. There’s so much potential out there!

Understand your audience and who you’re targeting

There are a lot of resources online that you can use now to get a better grasp on who your target audience is and whether or not you’re doing it effectively. Why put in all of the hours of work to market your content online when you might not even be reaching the right crowd?

I have used plenty of online tools in the past but one of the best for your website’s audience is Google Analytics. It’s a great one to start off with and whilst it may be a bit more basic than other tools that are in existence now, it can still be a valuable source of information to know who your audience is.

Don’t give up

There are going to be some campaigns or marketing efforts that don’t work out. You’re always going to have struggles in your business because let’s be honest, if it were so easy to run a business, everyone would be doing it. So don’t give up. I started this blog in 2014 and I eventually went self-employed through a combination of my blog and my freelance writing in 2019. By the end of the tax year for April 2022, I’ll have smashed through my target of earning £40,000. My wage before I left work was a little over £25,000. DON’T GIVE UP.
