Mestizo | Celebrating It’s Anniversary

– EVENT INVITATION –

I love attending events and the one at Mestizo to celebrate their first anniversary here in London, was no different. The family-run business, welcomed press and bloggers alike with open arms, to experience the culture of Mexico. From their tequila to their ma-hoosive bowl of guacamole (which I gravitated towards during most of the night obvs), this experience was very much appreciated.

SkullsI’ll never stop loving London, whether or not I ever end up moving from the capital. There is just so much diverse culture around, from the individuals that inhabit the city, to the food and businesses that survive and thrive in the capital. There is always something going on.

Mestizo is a multi-level restaurant, bar and marketplace located just a stone’s throw away from Euston station. Myself and my blogger bestie Ana, rocked up to the shop entrance and quickly made ourselves inside to explore the marketplace.

As someone who hasn’t really experienced Mexican culture before, I was intrigued by every aspect of what they had on offer. From the food market to the homeware, I  was in awe of all the colour. It’s vibrancy is something that we just don’t see enough of in my own culture.

Mexican StallPotteryAfter exploring the store, we left to make our way into the downstairs bar area, located underneath the busy restaurant. I’d come from work so hadn’t yet eaten. Imagine my delight when they brought out the biggest bowl of guacamole that I’ve ever seen. Suffice to say, it went down extremely well.

In this downstairs bar area, we were invited to try the tequila-based cocktails. Now I’m really not a fan of tequila but considering it was in a cocktail, I was happy to give it a go. They had made two variations of cocktails but my favourite had to be the margarita slushie, especially because the glass was dipped in salt flakes. YUM.

During the event, we got to mingle with other guests before a speech was made by the owner. We were then delighted by some traditional dancing, which my camera was not ready for but here’s the photo anyway. It got the crowd pumped and it was such an exciting atmosphere to be a part of.

DancingI had so much fun at this event and I would like to congratulate the team at Mestizo for the excellent hospitality and the delicious food that was served throughout the evening. I’m definitely going to take Sam (my fiance) to their restaurant soon for date night.

What do you love about Mexican culture? Let me know in the comments below.
