9 Helpful Tips For Keeping Your Skin Rejuvenated This Summer

Summertime means lots of fun in the sun, but it can also mean dry, irritated skin. It’s no secret that the summer sun can be tough on your skin. But with a little knowledge and preparation, you can keep your skin looking its best all season long. Here are some fantastic tips for keeping your skin rejuvenated this summer.

Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate!

It can’t be said enough – exfoliating is key to keeping your skin looking its best, no matter the season. But in the summer, when skin is more exposed to the elements, and daily sunscreen use can lead to clogged pores, it’s even more important. So a few times a week, reach for an exfoliating scrub or brush to slough away dead skin cells and reveal the radiant skin underneath.

Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise!

A good summertime moisturiser should be light yet hydrating. Look for one that contains ingredients like aloe vera or glycerin to help soothe and protect your skin.

Protect Your Skin from the Sun

This one should go without saying, but it’s still worth mentioning anyway: always wear sunscreen! Ultraviolet rays are present and damaging year-round, but they’re especially intense during the summer months. So whether you’re headed to the beach or just spending a day out in the park, make sure you’re applying sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 – and don’t forget to reapply every few hours, especially if you’re sweating or swimming.

Stay Hydrated

It’s important to stay hydrated all year round, but it’s even more crucial in the summer months when the heat can dehydrate skin quickly. So make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day, and consider investing in a humidifier for your home or office to keep the air around you from drying out your skin.

Choose Products Carefully

When your skin is feeling extra dry or sensitive in the summer heat, be careful about what products you’re using. Harsh cleansers can strip skin of its natural oils, while heavy moisturisers can feel suffocating in the heat. Instead, look for products that are labelled “oil-free” or “non-comedogenic,” which means they won’t clog pores. And when in doubt, opt for light, face serum, or refreshing gels over thick creams.

Give Your Skin a Break

Try to give your skin a break from time to time – both from the sun and from harsh products. If possible, take a few days off from wearing makeup to let your skin breathe, and make sure you’re cleansing thoroughly every night before bed. Your skin will thank you for it.

Eat A Healthy Diet

Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables is good for your skin (and your overall health). So load up on the produce this summer!

Get Enough Sleep

Getting a good night’s sleep is important for all aspects of your health, including your skin. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep each night.

Limit Your Time In The Sun

While some sun exposure is necessary for vitamin D production, too much sun can be damaging to your skin. Try to stay in the shade when possible, and limit your time in direct sunlight.
