As many mums will say, there comes a point where your bump just pops and my bump has officially popped. I’m really loving giving my bump some love. I can’t stop touching it and whenever they move, I immediately throw my hand to my bump to feel it. However, I feel like the baby is a little hand-shy or it’s just playing with me and Sam because it stops moving as soon as we put our hands on the bump.
One of the challenges I’m now facing is that fewer clothes are fitting my body. It’s not just the bump that’s the challenge but the chest area too. My boobs have definitely grown, which means I’ve had to seek out maternity bras to fit them comfortably. If you’re in need of maternity bras, I highly recommend the ASOS design ones from ASOS. The ASOS Design Maternity Bras are comfortable and have a little clip at the top of each bra strap for easy popping when I’ll hopefully be breastfeeding the baby.

Just to give you a perspective of my current bump growth, I bought these dungarees back in April and they’re just about fitting. What I thought would be a spacious, elasticated dungaree, is now busting at the seams. I actually want to be able to enjoy wearing this post-pregnancy so this will be the last time I wear it. You can find these Khaki Loose Fit Dungarees in Sainsbury’s, which are still available online.
I’m in two minds about just how much to get when it comes to maternity wear. For most of my pregnancy, I’ll be in summer wear before the autumn rolls in. In terms of summer wear, I only think I’ll need a few summer dresses and then while working from home, I can make use of maternity tops and shorts. I did a recent order on ASOS, which I’ll be sure to share with you the haul.
As autumn comes about, I’m going to need leggings mainly and then a few oversized jumpers, which I’m probably going to use again when I get pregnant again or just when I’m fancying a day to be enveloped by clothing. I’m going to look at these maternity clothes as an investment into my future pregnancies because no doubt I’ll be looking to get pregnant at least a second time. It’s a wild thought because even though it’s been twenty weeks, it feels exhausting to think I’ll be pregnant for another twenty to twenty-two at most.Â
I’ve popped a few more autumn pieces below for maternity inspiration. Fashion has always been a love-hate relationship for me. While I love shopping for clothes, I don’t like buying clothes too often. I think it’s the sustainable part of me. I’m keen to try and reduce my carbon footprint as best as possible.
Despite the first-world problems I’m clearly having when it comes to clothing, I’m really enjoying my pregnancy body. As a size 12 prior to my pregnancy, I always struggled with finding clothing that fitted my body properly. The ratio of boob to waist was something that few retailers got right – In The Style is a great choice for those with bigger boobs. With maternity wear though, there’s a lot more give. It’s as if retailers have realised that a growing bump also means growing boobs in most cases. It’s a thought that might be worth considering when it comes to general sizes. A size 12 isn’t always going to be flat-chested, so having a little give is important.
Maternity clothing is something that I’m starting to explore more now that my bump is growing. While I may be able to cope with a few items in the wardrobe that are maternity specific, I’m fast running out of my usual clothing. There’s only so much they’ll be able to stretch before they don’t stretch anymore.
If you have any suggestions on what maternity wear and maternity brands are worth exploring, then please let me know in the comments below. I’ll be doing a post soon on maternity brands I’ve discovered myself and shall therefore be trying out in the coming months. I’ve got another wedding coming up in July and I’ve also got a baby shower in August and September that I’ll need outfits for, wedding permitted.
