Over the past six months, I’ve been making a conscious effort to get my hair cut regularly. The difference it makes to my overall appearance is much more presentable and it keeps my hair shiny and healthy for longer. So, when it comes to haircare, I’m up for trying anything to make that fresh feeling I get at my hairdresser’s, to last longer. Introducing Philip Kingsley and The Elasticizer.
I hadn’t heard of Philip Kingsley before and that’s mainly because I’m terrible with remembering names, so for all I know, I may have already come across it beforehand and just forgot. This multi-award winning formula works on a variety of hair textures including fine and coarse hair. Did you know that this product was designed for Audrey Hepburn?! I KNOW. And now I’m using it. The product works as a pre-treatment, so I decided to apply this on a lazy Saturday afternoon where I could leave it on for an hour or so. It’s recommended you leave it in as long as possible, ideally overnight. I know though that the shower cap I was given would have not stayed on my head for all the tossing and turning I do in my sleep.
There are four size options available and I got the 150ml in the Coconut Breeze fragrance which is currently sold out on the website. The product is thick and has a smell that reminds me of the summer, it’s so divine. Even though it’s quite a thick consistency, when applied to the hair, it doesn’t feel like it’s weighing my hair down. It’s quite the opposite in fact. To apply, you dampen the hair section by section and then apply a generous amount to each section. A Philip Kingsley branded shower cap comes with the product and after covering my whole head, I popped it loose into the shower cap.
At this point, I took lots of photos, trying to get the perfect shot. Upon editing these photos, I suddenly realised that I DO NOT suit a shower cap. Anyway, 4858437 photos deleted, I sat down and did some blogging tasks and about an hour later I showered off the treatment and followed it with my usual shampoo and conditioner. What I noticed straight away was that my hair was a lot smoother after I washed out the shampoo. Normally, it feels a little dry before the conditioner gives it nourishment. This was a good sign!
After letting my hair dry naturally, my hair certainly had a shine to it and it was less frizzy than usual. The only thing that I wish remained was the smell of the coconut because when my hair had dried, it wasn’t that strong.
I want to try the treatment on overnight because I feel like a deep nourishing overnight treatment is going to do wonders for my hair, especially as I’ve been straightening, curling and blow drying it more often than usual. The Philip Kingsley Elasticizer in Coconut Breeze is currently on sale for just £25.00 reduced from £34.00. I think as pre-treatment, this is a reasonable price. For you money-savvy readers out there like me, this is a product I’d get to give my hair a little pick me up every so often. I don’t think I’d be using it every week.
You can find the whole range on the Philip Kingsley website. Let me know if you’ve tried any of their products before and which is your favourite in the comments below.
