Dressing Up For The Summer With Very UK

Having the opportunity to work with the same brand a number of times is a real pinch-me-moment. Very UK is one brand I’ve collaborated with again and again. The last one I did was just before Sonny was born and I feel like they were a part of my journey as a first-time mummy. Just recently, I got the opportunity to work with them again on their occasion wear for S/S 2024.

Very UK always has a wealth of options when it comes to clothing because it stocks a variety of brands, including its own line. With a trip to Center Parcs on the calendar, this was the perfect opportunity to kit out my occasion wear for the trip. Of course, I had to get Sonny in every picture!

I picked out three summer dresses, all of which are super comfortable and would fit my postpartum body.  With breastfeeding, it does limit my ability to what I can wear but most recently, I’ve not been feeding past a certain time in the evening, so that’s where these dresses can be shown off. I’ve realised that the best neckline for my chest is a slight v-cut so two of the dresses have this neckline.

Let’s start with perhaps my favourite of dresses, the V by Very Angel Sleeve Geo Print Midaxi Dress in Blue. This lightweight material is ideal for the type of weather we’re getting at the moment. I love the sleeve length as it covers what I think many of us can often feel self-conscious of – the arms!

I paired this with a beautiful strappy brown sandal (V by Very Low Heel Weave Sandal). Very UK has some beautiful accessories to pair with the outfits too, including an Embroided Knot Headband from Accessorize which I’m wearing constantly at the moment.

V by Very Angel Sleeve Geo Print Midaxi Dress - BlueI wanted to indulge a little more when it comes to accessories and I was well overdue for a new pair of sunglasses. Jimmy Choo does some divine sunglasses so these Seba Cat Eye Sunglasses were something slightly different than my usual choice.

Coming back to the dress, it’s flowy and has this geometric blue pattern that is extremely flattering when it comes to my body shape, which is a little bit all over the place at the moment.

I’m a big fan of blue so this Yours Cotton Strappy Sundress in Navy is a great option if you’re looking for a casual summer dress. It’s got a really flattering neckline and thin straps that make breastfeeding for me, easy enough to just pull down. The buttons down the front don’t undo the dress and are just for decoration.

Yours Cotton Strappy Sundress - NavyKeeping this outfit casual, I got myself some Birkenstock sandals dupes to partner up with this look. These are from New Look and they’re the Cream Leather-look Buckle Strap Footbed Sliders

These are super comfy but like many of the reviews, unfortunately, they’re not very durable on the sole. They’ve already worn down and are coming away from the rest of the shoe which is annoying because I really liked the comfort, fit, and look of them. It’s surprising though as I usually have a lot of great, long-lasting clothing when shopping with the New Look brand.

V by Very Square Neck Woven Jersey Mix Dress - BlackEven in the summer, I love to wear black and this V by Very Square Neck Woven Jersey Mix Dress in Black is very complimentary to my figure. it has a jersey top half with a square neckline that is flattering for my big boobs. It’s got a flowy bottom half that’s made up of a mix of materials; Viscose, Polyamide, and Elatane. What I will say about the bottom half is that it’s quite stiff to begin with so I’m hoping that with a wash or two, it’ll become a little more flexible.

Aside from the dresses I also got some beautiful bags to pair up with my outfits. I love the South Beach Dumpling Clutch which I wore with another outfit to a wedding recently. Below is this spacious Printed Canvas Shopper bag from River Island. I also paired this black jersey dress with the Stone Straw Effect Fedora Hat from New Look. I really love the fit of it, especially as I’m one to struggle when it comes to hats.
