January Reset In My Second Trimester | Very UK

January feels like the longest month of the year, and that’s because it really is. You’ve got the Christmas blues, the physical and mental exhaustion that comes with it, and then you’re thrown back into the daily routine of work, nursery, and school drop-offs and everything in between.

As far as my January reset goes, this year I’ve decided to take 2026 by the reins and look after my body. Whilst in the second trimester, I have my energy bac,k and I’m no longer nauseous. I’ve wanted to get back to the gym for a while since being away from it during my first trimester. I’m really keen to keep my body moving and to get my body ready for when this baby decides to arrive. Thanks to Very UK, they kitted me out with all the essentials I need to get myself back into the swing of things and hit GO on that January reset.

In order for me to get back to the gym, I desperately needed some new fitness attire. I’m looking for oversized tops for now that will help give me plenty of coverage for the bump, and once the warmer weather hits, I’ll probably opt for maternity gym vest tops. However,  part of my haul included this Under Armour Women’s Training Campus Oversized T-Shirt in White. It provides plenty of coverage over bump and leggings, as well as being fairly opaque to cover up my sports bra underneath.

Having loose and breathable clothing when you’re in the gym is so importand and it baffles me when I see people in the gym wearing jeans. JEANS?!

This top is definitely a loose fit and is something I’ll be getting a lot of use out of over the next few months for sure. I paired this top with some maternity gym leggings. While some of my gym leggings will likely fit, I now need the over-the-bump material that these Adidas Optime Essentials Workout Full Length Leggings Maternity provide.

I’m going to say this now that they are worth absolutely every penny, and I’m tempted to buy another pair just to wear around the house. They’re so comfortable, not see-throught and that over-the-bump material just helps me feel so much more comfortable in the gym.

Anyway, with the weather as it currently is, I need an extra layer when going to the gym, and I tend to wear a hoodie of some sort in the gym to sweat more. Of course, I don’t want to push my body too much, so I did take the The Very Collection Relaxed Fit Athleisure Hoodie – Grey once I started to get too hot.

And finally, to finish off the outfit, I really wanted a headband for my hair. For many other girlies – and guys- who have long hair, I have a bit of a fringe that’s now overgrown but not so overgrown that it blends in with the rest of my hair. Instead, it frustratingly hangs down by my face and irritates the hell out of me.

So I picked out the Wilson Unisex Tennis Headband – Navy. A must-have if you want to keep the hair out of your face when working out, especially as we start to get into the spring and summer months.

As part of the January reset, now that the nausea has subsided, I can focus on getting plenty of healthy food in my belly to nourish both myself and the baby. I’m also conscious about overconsuming, especially as I feel it contributed to my pregnancy in the latter stages. Very UK sent me the Ninja Blender, a 2-in-1 blender that comes with the Ninja cup, which helps you blend whatever smoothie or concoction you want straight into the cup.

It’s already looking at home next to our Ninja Airfryer, and later this year, we want to invest in the Ninja Coffee Machine. This blender already has me excited about prepping soups, which I’m well overdue to make this year.

However, for now, with me wanting to be more conscious about my food intake and my husband on mounjaro, morning smoothies that are packed with plenty of protein and fiber to keep us full for longer are incredibly helpful. I made a simple banana and oats smoothie mixed with honey and milk. I’m going to be using it closer to the end of my pregnancy, where I’ll add dates to the smoothie, as apparently it helps with labour.

I’m also very excited to start making smoothies this spring and summer, too. The Ninja blender offers an assortment of settings, including blend, max blend, and crush. There are also speed settings depending on what you’re having to blend up.

I love the ease of having a cup that you could just blend straight into, rather than transferring it from the bigger container.  And the best thing about the blender? All the parts are dishwasher-friendly, meaning I don’t need to spend hours trying to clean the blender blades carefully to remove all of the gunk.

Perhaps my favourite part of the January reset is getting to try out the FitBit Versa 4. I’ve never really been enthused with Smart Watches, but since wearing this one, I’m well and truly hooked. From tracking my sleep habits to counting steps and knowing how many calories I’ve burned, it’s a great little gadget that’s going to help me through my pregnancy workouts and beyond.

Whilst January feels like a dreary month, I feel like throwing yourself into something you love, whether that be your work, a hobby, or fitness, as I have, really helps to get you out of that funk. Also, remember to look after yourself and give yourself some grace during the start of the year. It’s a new year, and therefore an often overwhelming feeling that comes with it.

What are you doing to hit the reset button and beat the January blues? Let me know in the comments below.
