Peter Minkoff is one of my regular guest bloggers and you can always expect the best advice from his blogs. Check out his last one here. He’s a beauty and fashion writer, living in London and occasionally in Brisbane. After graduating from Australian Institute of Creative Design, he worked as a stylist for few fashion events in UK and AUS. Besides beauty and fashion, he loves reading, making DIY cosmetics and travelling around tropical destinations.
He plans to create a business for beauty and style advise. This year, as a young couple ourselves, me and Sam want to see more of the world, sharing experiences together before we do any of that adult ‘settling down’ stuff. This week, Peter’s sharing some of his knowledge on those travel destinations that might be a little more adventurous than your package holiday to Ibiza!
Hitting the road at the age of 20 is not the same as at the age of 50. Simply put, young people have a completely different idea of fun. If you send a young couple and an older couple on the same trip, they will most likely do completely different things. On top of that, besides different expectations and interests, some destinations simply aren’t for older people. We wanted to explore what attracts young couples to certain destinations and this is what we came up with.
Whether you want to go trekking through the mountains, chill on azure beaches or simply meet the local culture, we have created a list of the most interesting and unconventional destinations for young couples. Enjoy!
Run With The Bulls In Pamplona, Spain
It is hard to imagine a better destination for young adrenaline seeking couples than Pamplona, Spain during the San Fermin festival. Sure, running with the bulls will be the highlight of this trip, but Pamplona has so much more to offer.
First of all, a day before the race people fill the streets to dance and drink sangria. This is how they traditionally celebrate the opening ceremony. Remember not to overdo it because the race awaits you early in the morning. Both fun and action are guaranteed in Pamplona, so book the trip if this is something that you might like.
Go Off-Road To Machu Picchu, Peru
For all couples that love action-packed trips and hiking, we recommend visiting the ancient town of Machu Picchu in Peru. Inka Trail is one of the world’s most beautiful hiking trails and it will take you through rainforests, mountains, and finally to breath-taking Machu Picchu. Keep in mind that this type of trip is not for the lazy. Inka Trail is quite challenging, but ultimately a very rewarding experience.
Rich cuisine of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
The capital city of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, is a must-visit destination for all couples that simply love life and want to experience a completely different culture. There are Arabic bazaars for shopping, gorgeous old buildings to visit, and most importantly, amazing restaurants for dining.
It is impossible to visit Saudi Arabia without stepping in at least one restaurant in Riyadh. This city loves to eat and they eat well, too. Their cuisine is probably among the most unique ones in the world. On top of that, almost every restaurant is top-notch, so don’t waste time on choosing the right one.
Experience the Burning Man Festival In The Black Rock Desert, Nevada
Burning Man is nothing like you ever experienced. This festival takes the atmosphere to a whole new level. If you two are a couple that loves art and self-expression, then this place will be the most captivating thing you will ever see. Embark on a spiritual journey with thousands of like-minded people and most importantly, learn the art of gifting and communal effort.
Become A Savage In The Altai Mountains, Mongolia
There aren’t a lot of couples that love to explore the wilderness on their trips. What we mean by this is to return to our roots and old way of living or at least experience it just for a moment.
The Altai Mountains in Mongolia are the perfect place for such trips. You can experience one of the oldest cultures in the world that still lives fairly primitive. Hunters covered in traditional clothes with their trusted hunting eagles by their side are truly a sight to behold.
And that is all. Sure, there are a lot more unconventional destinations around the world, but these five are some of the best. There is something for everyone on this list, regardless of what type of trip you are looking for.
