10 Insta-worthy Holiday Locations

I read an online article the other day which involved a journalist ranting on about influencers and how Instagrammers are sucking out the life and soul of travel. Her point being that it takes the spontaneity out of travel photography. I have to agree with her. My generation for example grew up with social media so we see no harm in taking, filtering and enhancing our holiday photos.

Holiday LocationsBut you know what? The article kind of reads like another subtle dig at influencers in general. With the recent drama of White Moose Cafe, it’s yet another indication that we influencers don’t seem to be welcomed yet or is our industry fully respected. Unfortunately though, we’re sticking around and we’re earning money so……suck it.

Anyway to lighten the mood and to give a proverbial finger to the haters, here’s 10 Insta-worthy holiday locations. You never know, it might inspire you to see the world (but hey, that sounds like a terrible idea right?)

Gran Melia, Rome

We visited Rome last year and it was beautiful. I’d happily go back again because we didn’t see everything that we wanted to see. The Gran Melia is built on the site of the suburban home of Emperor Nero’s mother and is therefore surrounded by ancient ruins. With just a five minute walk from the Vatican and St Peter’s Basilica, the hotel offers impressive pools and luscious gardens for all your typical holiday Insta needs.

Ski Chalets in Val d’Isere, France

Aside from it being very cold, these stunning Ski Chalets would be perfect for getting that Hot Chocolate selfie alongside a breath-taking backdrop of a Winter wonderland. Not only that but a chalet interior on your Instagram is sure to get you all the follows.

Waldorf Astoria, New York

The Waldorf Astoria certainly has a lot of history. It’s a stunning hotel which has stood in the magnificent city since 1931. It was once the tallest building in the world until Moscow took the title. With it’s wide stately corridors, vintage deco door features and a free-standing clock in the middle of the reception, this is perfect for any budding photographer. I should know because I’ve been here myself.

Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, Thailand

Thailand is actually a place that I’ve been inspired to go to from the use of Instagram. Whether it’s the rich colours of the food or the crystal clear waters, I am obsessed with this place before I’ve even been. Get a taste of Thailand with the Four Seasons Resort in Koh Samui. With jaw dropping views, this private escape is great for those who want that more intimate holiday.

Hotel Husafell, Iceland

Explore Iceland and maybe even see the Northern Lights with Hotel Husafell. Located right within the Icelandic nature, this hotel offers everything from geothermal baths to action packed activities that both you and the family can enjoy. If you’re after shots of something a little different, then this is definitely a place to visit.

Katikies Hotel, Greece

It’s a place that I’d love to go to celebrate my hen party in. The Katikies Hotel is one place I could only dream of staying in (if I ever made my millions so I could treat everyone) and the traditional white washed walls are aplenty at this resort. This luxury hotel would be the perfect place to make all your Instagram followers jealous.

Pinetrees Lodge, Australia

I’ve always wanted to go to Australia but the only thing that stops me is that I’m a wuss when it comes to creepy crawlies. If you can get past that though then the Pinetrees Lodge is the place to go for any fervid adventurer looking for the best of both worlds. Discovered in 1788, the island was uninhabited and since then almost seven generations of the Rourke family have developed this island into a luxury resort for people from all over the world to see.

Island Shangri-La Hotel, Hong Kong

If you love to be amongst the city dwellers of the country you’re visiting then the Island Shangri-La Hotel is in the very heart of Hong Kong. The 56 storeys of the hotel overlooks the most prestigious shopping, cultural and business addresses in the city. A main feature that’s perfect for an Instagram snap is the 16ft silk painting deemed the largest in the world.

Isle of Eriska Hotel, Scotland

I remember visiting Scotland for the first time which was on New Year’s Eve in this quaint lodges in the woods. The UK also has it’s fair share of Instagrammable spots and the Isle Of Eriska Hotel is definitely one of them. It’s so extra, it has it’s own moat. Anyone who wants a little slice of the castle and manor lifestyle, needs to come here.

An Lam Saigon River, Vietnam

One of my friends recently visited Vietnam and their constant posts on Instagram had me shaking with jealousy. An Lam focuses on combining nature with sophisticated craftsmanship to create the most beautiful hotels and resorts. Tropical scenery is in abundance at this resort, providing the perfect selfie showcasing a cocktail…or two.

What do you think of these Insta-worthy holiday destinations? Let me know where you’d go in the comments below.
