It was mine and Sam’s first Christmas spent together in 2017 and we shared the festive holidays between our families. Our time was limited as we were both due back at work but we made sure to enjoy every moment spent with our parents, our siblings and Arla, Sam’s sister’s dog.
On one of our day’s at Sam’s parents, we headed over to Piper’s Hill for an afternoon walk. The weather was chilly but not as cold as most British winters can be, especially as you move further up North.
Through slippery, muddy trails we wandered through the woods and I was incredibly impressed by the photos I took because of the weather conditions. It was the perfect lighting but there was a light blanketing of fog that just made me squeal with excitement everytime I took a photo. Sam was the perfect gentleman though, guiding me through the woods so I wouldn’t A. get lost or B. fall flat on my face because I wasn’t looking where I was going.
It was mine and Sam’s first Christmas both as a couple and as a newly engaged couple together. It’s quite hard to believe we haven’t spent any Christmas’ together before but both myself and Sam are home buddies and living in London meant that the festive period was the longest time together that we could spend with family.
Both our Christmas’ was a little different this year. Sam’s sister’s partner Will was with us and so was their dog Arla. She’s a beautiful rescue German Shepherd and she’s just perfect. She’s also extremely photogenic and I had lots of fun snapping her in Sam’s parent’s back garden.
Sam spent his Christmas Day with my parents and my brother also has a girlfriend called Hannah who spent the evening with us for the first time. We also went over to her family do on Boxing Day evening which was lovely. They’d hired out a bowling club event space that was exclusive to just their party and they held a number of festive games for both the kids and adults.
Myself and Sam were spoilt over the Christmas period with plenty of food and alcohol. We also received some wonderful gifts from our parents and family members and we were so grateful to have been able to spend these few days with both of our families.
As we head into 2018, we have our engagement party coming up as well as the prospect of finally buying our first place together in London. On the blogging front, I have a brand new layout and have recently transferred over to WordPress self-hosting thanks to Pipdig. Pipdig is fantastic if you want to make your blog feel more professional and they also offer this extremely beneficial migration service. UpYourVlog is well on it’s way to becoming a successful business and I’m excited to see what the new year will bring.
