London has been my home now for nearly five years. FIVE YEARS! The time has flown by so quickly, it’s actually quite scary to think I’ve spent more time here than I did at university. However, the London lifestyle, although wonderful, can be quite exhausting after a while. There’s only so much underground commuting a girl can do and when it’s busy on the underground, it’s my idea of hell. So why would I like to move out of London?
I Want To Raise A Family
It’s no surprise that when you reach your mid-twenties, your baby brain kicks in. It started when I was 25 and now every time I see a baby or toddler, I end up making weird baby noises and looking at Sam lovingly. We’re at that point now where we’ll definitely want to start a family within the next five years. I have a plan that I want to have children all around the same age. I’m aiming for four children but every time I say that Sam tends to go quiet or has a look of pure fear on his face. The last thing I want is to be raising children in London. Reading up on Bekins Moving Solutions and moving with toddlers sounds bad enough, so I want to make sure we’re out of the city before I start nesting.
Bigger Properties For Less
Let’s be honest here unless we have close to a million pounds to spend, the only place I’d love to live in London is Richmond. It’s a beautiful area that feels like the countryside but is still in London. But we don’t have a million pounds (one can dream though) and when it comes to getting value for your money, you aren’t getting as much in London as you can get outside of the capital. It’s soul-destroying when I can see four to six bedroom properties available at the same price as what we paid for a two-bed apartment. I want a house for our next property because it’s likely to be our family home for a while. I want to be able to decorate it and have a fancy-ass wine fridge where I can get an oregon pinot wine package and live my best, most luxurious life.
I also want a freehold property next time instead of a leasehold one. We currently own our property but not the land that it sits on and even though things like our roof, exteriors and communal gardens are all covered, we still have to pay a big amount per year for service charges and maintenance costs to go towards that cover.
The Freelance Lifestyle
It comes as no surprise that I want to go freelance and I think that when I’m out of London, this freelance lifestyle will suit me a lot better. I’m not a 9-5 office person – I’ve realised this since being in a full-time job. Living outside of London means that I can easily work from home and not have to fork out as much per month as I will probably do while still living in London for the next couple of years. I think our plan is to move within a year of being married because by then we would have been in that flat for nearly four years. I also want to be able to get a car and have a dog!
Do you live in London or a city and want to escape that busy lifestyle? Let me know in the comments below.
