Creating my own blog has really opened up a new world for me. I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with some amazing brands and meet some great people along the way. In my opinion the blogging industry has never been so popular, with many people wanting to create a platform where they can share content about their hobbies, interests and everyday life. Unless you’re lucky enough to know someone who has experience with blogging, it may seem complicated creating your own or even knowing where to start. Before creating a blog you have to consider which platform you’re going to host your site on, the domain name you’re going to buy, the type of content you’re going to share etc.

Blogging feels like second nature to me now, but that hasn’t always been the case. I was a beginner once so I know how confusing the whole process can be and because of that, I’d like to share with you some simple blogging tips which may come in useful for you.
How do I start a blog?
So you may be wondering where to even start, but it’s not as complicated as you’d think. There are loads of free websites which allow you to create a blog, but the two most popular are WordPress and Blogger. Most bloggers opt for WordPress as it’s easier to navigate around and it allows you to do more than Blogger.
Think of WordPress as your blogs engine room; it’s where you’ll create content, manage plugins and the site as a whole. At first glance you may think WordPress is a daunting platform but you’ll easily get used to it. If you don’t have anyone who can talk you through the platform then look online for WordPress tutorials and you’ll soon get used to using it.
My blog is setup but what do I do now?
Once your blog is setup and ready to go, you can now start thinking about the type of content you want to share. It’s important to understand that it does take some time to build up your blogs audience, so don’t be surprised if your first few post don’t receive much interaction. Content is one of the mains ways to build up an audience but make sure you choose quality over quantity. People want to read interesting and informative content so make sure you’re sharing posts which are about your interests, places you’ve been and everyday life so you’re enjoying what you’re writing about.
Social media is the perfect tool to share your content and help build up an audience. Whether you use your personal channels or create some specifically for your blog, you can use hashtags and tag blogging groups to expose your content to a large audience.
What do I need to know once I’m confident using WordPress?
It won’t take you long to get used to WordPress and its range of features. The more you blog the more you’ll understand other processes and tips associated with blogging and your confidence will soon increase.
Once you have a better understanding of how to improve your blogs performance, you’ll be familiar with both internal and external linking, checking broken links and guest posting. All of these processes and more will help improve your sites DA and increase its audience size.
I hope this post has been of some help to you. The points I’ve mentioned are just a few of the more basic processes but don’t worry, you’ll soon get to grips with blogging and the more complex processes.
