Cooking With Mileeven | Sarah’s Honey

I LOVE HONEY. Let that be known. So when Mileeven Foods sent me a sweet package of three different honeys to try out, I was very happy. It’s taken me a few weeks to try them out in different ways and I can finally give you a bit of a in-depth review of each honey that I got sent and which one was my favourite.

Mileeven Honey

When I received the honey, it was just before pancake day and so it was the perfect opportunity to try them out. I immediately gravitated to the Cinammon one but that’s also because I’m obsessed with this spice. The three honeys are all available at your local Sainsburys, so be sure to pick them up when you next go in.

Sarah’s Warming Honey With Cinnamon

By far, my favourite of the three honeys. What I love about each of the honeys that I recieved is that they’re thick and they have plenty of the main ingredient in it. Therefore, it’s not too weak and you kind of forget that you are in fact eating honey. I used the honey with cinnamon on the pancakes and it was such a yummy mix and sweet and spice that made it a little different to the usual sugar and lemon I tend to have on the pancakes.

Pancakes With Honey

I knew that I wanted to make something morw with the cinnamon honey and later on that week, I made some honey cinnamon cookies which went down a treat. The pots of honey come in a size of 250g and that’s a sizeable amount for the small price of £2.50. I’ve used about 3/4 of the cinnamon honey. I think I’ll try it in my milky coffees next time to mimic the traditional flavoured syrups I have in coffees when I’m out and about.

Sarah’s Zesty Ginger Honey

The zesty ginger honey is something I was a bit hesistant to try because I definitely thought it would be something that would be too overpowering. With this ginger honey, it initially tastes like it could be too much but it definitely mellows slightly to be a more pleasant taste. I got creative with this ginger honey because we cooked a Red Thai Curry the other week and we didn’t have any fresh ginger to add into it. A dollop of this honey was the perfect substitute and for the first time attempting the curry, it was a great success.

What I love about honey is that it’s such a versatile ingredient that’s not just limited to something you stick on top of your porridge or have on toast. You can create sweet treats with it or throw it into your meals.

Sarah’s Fruity Acacia Honey With Mixed Berries

And finally, the berry one is the perfect flavour for porridges and on top of toast. It more or less tastes like a jam and has a more chunky consistency in comparison to the other two. I’ve not tried this one that much but I certainly won’t have any problem making light work of it over this coronavirus quarantine period!

What do you think of these honeys? Make sure you go and grab yours from Mileeven or in your local Sainsburys supermarket.
