I’m subscribed to both Glossybox and Birchbox and have been now for five to six months. Being able to recieve two beauty subscription boxes per month is like having a birthday or Christmas every month. Aside from the products I’ll receive to review for my blog, these are an extra treat and a way of helping me explore new brands and products on the market that I wouldn’t have otherwise tried out. But betweeen the two, which one is best? Glossybox or Birchbox? I’m going to break down these beauty subscriptions and compare them in three categories; price, products and benefits, to see which one comes out on top.
I thought I’d start off with a brief overview of each and then do a comparison of both together at the end to discuss which one I feel is better. Both have their benefits, so it’s going to be a tough one!
Glossybox
Glossybox definitely has the luxury factor about it, even though it’s only £10.00 per month plus the £3.25 postage. You do get less products, usually five but they all tend to be full-sized products for the most part. The products that have featured in the past for this beauty box have been a lot more higher-end in terms of the companies they tend to work with and again, the product sizes are certainly generous. There’s some lovely products that I’ve used and have made me want to repurchase them when the times comes. In my latest box, I got two gorgeous lip liners as part of their February collection and a lip brush. They work together so well and I love the combining that they do of products to be used together.
Birchbox
Birchbox was the first box that I subscribed to and has been consistent in a great selection of face masks, skincare and haircare products. I think with Birchbox, what stands out with the monthly picks is that they tend to be very defined to that particular for month. For example, February had a mixture of pink and red toned products from a Lord and Berry lip crayon to a Beautaniq Blush. Birchbox costs £12.95 per month plus shipping at £2.95. So in total that’s a little over £15.00. You usually get 6-7 products for that and they end up being well over the cost of the box, so for me the bargain that this box brings is outstanding. The products all usually vary in recognisable brands to those I’ve never heard of before. Some brands seem to be well established whereas others are a little difficult to find online.
Birchbox seems to work with a number of individuals or organisations since I started subscribing including Disney’s Frozen and Rochelle Humes. I do like therefore, that these boxes tend to be more tailored in the way of the person or company they work with.
Which One Is Better?
It’s difficult to answer because they’re both really good for the cost of what you pay for the subscriptions. You’re getting a range of products that you might not have otherwise tried and it means you’re not wasting all your money on products that don’t end up being good for you. However, with all that’s said, if you’re looking for better value for money, Birchbox is the way to go. Six or seven products for £15 is something that would be impossible to do if you were out shopping in Boots or on the high-street. For quality of products, I think Glossybox just has the edge and if I were to carry on with just one, I think I’d stick with Glossybox over Birchbox.
So both have their advantages and if you’re looking to get one yourself, you can get your first Glossybox with 20% off by using my unique link here. The same goes for Birchbox where you can get £5.00 off your box with this link here.
